Well it's been a long time since I watched it so it's hard to give an accurate answer. So keeping that in mind... Going off of decades old memory... Shinji was a sniveling little crybaby pussy, Asuka was a straight up bitch - not even tsundere, Rei was an emotionless robot and Shinji for some reason had this massive hate boner for his dad who was actually pretty cool giving him a sweet robot he could pilot and setting him up with more girls than you can shake a stick at. It was also a depressing series with a slow meandering story and basically zero character development. I pretty much hated the entire cast except Misato. It was super disappointing and pretty much wasted a bunch of my time bothering to even watch it. It had so much wasted potential on so many levels. On any kind of character story, romance, drama, the actual literal story, events taking place. It was all just bad imo. It was a series I kept watching wondering "when does this get good?" because I'd heard such hype but it just never did and ended up leaving a bitter taste in my mouth by the end when it never did get any better. It's a pretty polarizing series, some people love it and some absolutely hate it.
