Hello. I'm just an anime fan, watching and reading as much as I can.
My Codes of Anime:
Never drop a series, even if it's appalling.
Story and character development are more important than the sound and animation quality.
No anime is perfect, even those rated a 10.
No anime is appalling, even those rated a 1.
Anything can happen in an anime.
Respect others' opinions regarding anime.
No one is an elitist nor a causal, these are simply titles.
Remember, every anime series has a hater, even well-regarded ones.
My Rating System:
Masterpiece (10): This anime is exquisite. Its story is well-told and coherent with all its subplots resolved, its characters are fully-developed and extremely consistent, its sound is pleasing with mostly well-timed music in key moments, and the animation is extremely detailed with seemingly flowing transitions.
Excellent (9): The story contains a strong narrative with lots of progression, and has resolved a majority of subplots, the characters are three-dimensional and very consistent, the sound is pleasing with some well-timed music in key moments, and the animation is finely detailed with excellent transitions.
Great (8): The story contains a strong narrative with lots of progression, and has resolved most subplots, the characters are either two or three-dimensional with lots of growth in personality, the sound is pleasing with a few well-timed music in key moments, and the animation is very detailed with great transitions.
Good (7): The story contains a weak narrative with some progression, although some subplots remain unresolved, the characters are two-dimensional with some growth in personality, the sound is mostly filled with good music/vocal work, and the animation considerately detailed.
Fine (6): The story contains a weak narrative with little progression and has lots of unresolved subplots, the characters have little development and are slightly appealing, the sound has a few good vocals/music, and the animation is mediocre with some good details in certain segments.
Average (5): There are an even number of strengths and flaws. The story is either filled with cliches with few development or is developed with some incoherence, the characters neither exceed nor lose their appeal, but are rather stagnant, the sound is tolerable, and the animation is mediocre with no particular segments standing out.
Bad (4): The story contains either a bit more cliches than the average or is lacking a clear narrative, the characters either lose some of their appeal or have little development, the sound is passable with minor dissonances, and the animation is lacking more details than the average.
Terrible (3): The story has either lost its narrative and is trying to recover it or is filled with many cliches, the characters either lose a lot of their appeal or have significantly less development, the sound has some discordant, and the animation is severely lacking details.
Abhorrent (2): The story has either lost its narrative and fails to recover it or is filled with too many cliches, the characters are one-dimensional with minor growths in personality, the sound is mostly discordant, and the animation is unpolished with minimum details and some choppiness.
Appalling (1): This anime is shockingly awful. Its story is either incoherent with no plot progression or has no plot at all, its characters are one-dimensional with no real growth in personality, its sound is grating, and its animation is unpolished with little to no detail and lots of choppiness.
I see you associated Goblin Slayer with Doom. It's an old review, so maybe you already know. Anyways I started watching the series partly because of your review and immediatly I recognized they used a theme from Doom 2: Map 18 Waiting for Romero to Play.
