Little, Brown Gets Haruhi Light Novels

According to Publishers Weekly, Little, Brown Books for Young Readers will publish the original, light novel version of the Haruhi Suzumiya series. The first novel will be released in April 2009 for about $9 for a paperback version and $17 for a hardback version.

it is great news since Im reading the novel right now (I prefer reading it in a book form)
but, a year... I guess Im just going to keep reading from the net, but Im still going to buy the book

hells yeah... After watching the anime, I sooo wanted to read the light novels but was distressed to find out that it was being distributed in the states.
Even though i'll be a year, at least it'll happen..
You better bet i'm getting the hard cover version

YEN Press is releasing the manga in october. I went to their booth and got a poster too.

Actually there is some character and plot development from time to time, but I agree there is really few throughout the first 9 novels. And that may be why it's great : when you come across a minor develomment, you're like "Wow, THAT is awesome". But what makes Haruhi Suzumiya no Yuutsu really outstanding are the silly dialogues and references about pop culture, as well as the way the author creates his sentences, it's just incredible. The general plot is not really the main point of this title.

Where are you guys getting children from? It just says young readers, which is pretty much the main audience of light novels in Japan, anyway. But young readers doesn't mean children... it means like anywhere from teens to early adulthood I think. Don't take the phrase so literally! xD

That children's book thing worries me but otherwise I'm looking forward to it. I just hope they're easy accessible. I can never find any light novels here.

I'd buy it IF they don't totally screw over the translation and Americanize it.
Ahh well if they do screw it over all i have to do is learn Japanese and read the originals.

Chances are, they are going to be edited for American readers... its what happens to anime right? the English dubs being with totally different experiences and major story diversion from the Japanese with Eng subs versions... I won't get my hopes up for this series, but if it gets positive feedback on MAL... I'd buy the most expensive version of the series, because I like Haruhi and reading, and the Haruhi Suzumiya storyline....

That said am I to believe this news is not about the Haruhi Suzumiya series being translated and its about some books to do with Haruhi Suzumiya... Thats would be a shame for me, and the guy who makes money from sales of the books, cause they just lost a customer...

Even though I've already read the first 9 volumes of Haruhi, I enjoy it enough to buy these hardback light novels. I just hope they don't Americanize the translations. ^_^
