The November issue of Nakayoshi magazine announced a sequel manga to PEACH-PIT's Shugo Chara! manga on Tuesday. The new manga is scheduled to launch in the magazine in Summer 2024.

The original Shugo Chara! manga ran in Nakayoshi from December 2005 to August 2010. Kodansha released the 12th and final volume in October 2010.

Del Ray published the first nine volumes of the manga in English from March 2007 to July 2010. Kodansha USA reacquired the license and published the last three volumes in 2011, and republished the previous volumes between August 2012 and January 2013.

The manga was adapted into three television anime by Satelite in Fall 2007, Fall 2008, and Fall 2009.

Shugo Chara! received the 32nd Kodansha Manga Award for best children's manga in 2008.

I feel like I'll have to re-read the original...I remember liking it but that was over a decade ago.

@StarPebblit Depends on the producers' belief that it will make sense.

@RobertBobert Yeah that's kind of what I mean by 'in the future' when it gets enough material to be adapted.

@Lucifrost If this ship is popular because of actual canonical feelings, not fan delusions, then all hopes are meaningless.

Depends on the level of motivation of the author. I haven't read the manga, so I don't know how complete the original story was.

@RobertBobert But first of all, let's hope the story of the manga sequel will be good. Apologies to myself that I gave up reading manga because I'm hopelessly lazy.

I hope this sequel does not canonize the most popular ship, because I am not a fan of that couple.

Ah the good old 2000's and mid 2000s series getting revived.

awesome! I hope I'll be able to read it and that Ikuto is part of it. Amu & Ikuto as a couple

I think I'll pass. The original was already disturbing to me when I was a teen, and it's even more disturbing to me now. The only thing that would make me read it would be if they changed the main love interest, which I highly doubt they'll do.

It has been a while, eh?

Good news, looking forward to it.

Damn, this is a series that came on my radar once but I never got around to checking it. Here's to hoping for a 4th season announcement, I'm sure I'll check it out for certain then.
