Manhwa 'Gosu' Gets Anime Adaptation

Toei Animation and Naver Webtoon's Studio N announced on Monday that the companies are producing an anime adaptation of Giun Ryu and Jung-Hoo Mun's Gosu (The Master) manhwa.

Ryu and Mun serialized the historical martial arts manhwa on the Naver Webtoon's website from September 2015 to April 2021. The tenth and 11th volumes released this Monday. Webtoon Entertainment is publishing the manhwa in English. The series garnered a cumulative 1.4 billion views worldwide.

Gosu is a sequel to the Yongbi Bulpae (Yongbi the Invincible) manhwa, which was serialized from 1998 to 2002. A side story manhwa ran from 2006 to 2013.

Synopsis
When his master dies, Gang Yong pledges to avenge his teacher at all costs. After training his martial arts skills in seclusion, Gang Yong sets off to hunt down the traitors and make them pay! But when he gets to town, he discovers they're... already dead? Well, what's he supposed to do now?! (Source: Webtoon Entertainment)

Because Gosu is way more popular than Yongbi. Plus the truth is, there are 3 prequels: Yongbi the Invincible (~70 years before Gosu), Yongbi the side story (1-2 years after Yongbi the Invincible) and The second war with Asura Blood Sect (This doesn't exist, got cancelled before being created) (~60 years before Gosu)

Bruh why not Yongbi first? You can't fully understand plot, setting, character,... in later Gosu's arcs if you don't read Yongbi
and IMO Yongbi is far better than Gosu, best manhwa of all time on my list :)

I heard a lot of good things about this series so I'll defintely watch it when it comes out....However, I'm more hyped about The Boxer getting an anime because I fucking LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEE that series

I read part of the prequel, and if it's the same style, I'm not too interested. Nice that more manhwa are getting adaptations, though.

Ofc there is some foreign funding in this. Nones gonna adapt manhwas just because.
