The official website of the television anime adaptation of Aka Akasaka and Mengo Yokoyari's "Oshi no Ko" manga revealed on Monday additional cast, and a promotional video.

The anime is scheduled to premiere with a 90-minute first episode in April 2023, with an extended version of the first episode opening in Japanese theaters on March 17. The website released a visual (pictured) for the screenings.

Cast
Aqua: Takeo Ootsuka (Kaze ga Tsuyoku Fuiteiru)
Young Aqua: Yumi Uchiyama (Mushoku Tensei: Isekai Ittara Honki Dasu)
Ruby: Yurie Igoma
Gorou: Kento Itou (Wotaku ni Koi wa Muzukashii)
Sarina: Tomoyo Takayanagi (Machikado Mazoku)

Daisuke Hiramaki (Selection Project) helms the anime at Doga Kobo. Jin Tanaka (Love Live! Nijigasaki Gakuen School Idol Doukoukai) is handling the series composition and Kanna Hirayama (Kanojo, Okarishimasu) is designing the characters.

Akasaka and Yokoyari began serializing the music drama manga in Young Jump magazine in April 2020. Shueisha shipped the seventh volume on February 18 and will release the eighth volume on June 17.

Shueisha began publishing the manga in English on its Manga Plus platform on April 20. Yen Press licensed the manga in English on July 1 and is scheduled to release the first volume on January 17.

Everything else is good but somehow I couldn't stand the art style. I put my hopes to Doga Kobo since it's one of my favorite studios. The art style from the manga is gorgeous so I'm mixed feelings for this one.

Erm. No. You said their romances are originals. I put the statistics (almost half here is from earlier years). Yes, most of them are comedies, but they are not CGDCT. This is why I have not included something like UzaMaid or that one about lolicon student with a crush on her sisters classmate.

We're talking about their current gimmick. They made what you call adaptations at a time when their studio didn't have much direction.

Even if we are talking about the period since they started delving into CGDCT execively (lets say since YuruYuri S1 came out) we have: Natsuyuki Rendezvous, Mikakunin de Shinkoukei, Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun, Yesterday o Utatte, Osananajimi ga Zettai ni Makenai LoveCome, Senpai ga Uzai Kouhai no Hanashi, Kawaii dake ja Nai Shikimori-san, Shiro Seijo to Kuro Bokushi.

You really know how having fun at parties, don't you? Most of these shows are either CGDCT with a romantic element or created in the last couple of years when they started getting more varied contracts again. And damn, man. I know it's tempting to argue sometimes, but you're literally trying to take this so personally that you literally start listing shows.

Erm, no. Their only original romance animes were Tada-kun and Plastic Memories (if you count it as romance). Everything else were adaptations.

Before that, they literally did everything, because before the transition to CGDCT, they simply did not have their own gimmick, lol. Also, I wouldn't mix their romance and cute girls either. Most of their cute girls are adaptations, while the romance is created as the original anime.

You know, they only switched to romcoms and CGDCT series later. THey made a bunch of darker staff before.

From the studio company that makes colorful series and also has happy romances and friendships just turned 180 for this project.
Good luck Doga Kobo.

I don't really understand why Doga Kobo, since they rarely take on this type of work outside of the original shows, but it's reassuring anyway.

I still can't get over how absolutely insane the premise of this show/manga sounds.

I always envisioned someone like Uchiyama Kouki voicing Aqua given his history with dudes who like to present themselves as lone wolfs but guess big series nowadays tending towards giving new faces spotlight.
