Publishing company Kadokawa announced an anime adaptation of Sarasa Nagase's Akuyaku Reijou nanode Last Boss wo Kattemimashita (I'm the Villainess, So I'm Taming the Final Boss) light novel on Friday. The anime project is commemorating the 20th anniversary of the Kadokawa Beans Bunko imprint.

Synopsis
Being acutely ill, a young girl has spent most of her life in a hospital room playing otome games to fill her time. However, she one day finds herself in the midst of a scene from one of these games as the story's villainess, Irene Loren D'Autriche.

At the banquet to celebrate the end of the academy's winter term, the crown prince and Irene's childhood friend, Cedric Jeanne Elmeier, publicly annuls his engagement with Irene and announces that he is in love with Lilia Rainworth, the game's female protagonist. Aware of the tragic future ahead of her and determined to change it, the young girl resolves to conquer the game's final boss, the "Demon King" and Cedric's half-brother, Claude Jeanne Elmeier, by making him fall in love with her instead.

With time running out, can Irene succeed with her plans, or will she remain bound to the ill-fated ending that awaits her? [Written by MAL Rewrite]

Nagase launched the comedy fantasy novel on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website in May 2017. Kadokawa began printing the series under its Beans Bunko imprint with illustrations by Mai Murasaki in September that year and released the ninth volume on Friday.

Anko Yuzu serialized a manga adaptation in Monthly Comp Ace from June 2018 to August 2019. Kadokawa published the third and final volume in December 2019.

Yen Press licensed both the light novel and manga adaptation in English this year and plans to release the first volume of each on October 12 and 26, respectively.

Hmm, mixed feelings about this one after reading the manga(not the novel) I have a lot of issues on the drama aspect of it, especially when they shrug a lot of stuff that needs sever punishment

Female MC oriented isekai. The story seems the same as Bakarina. For me its a good watch

AH YES, because HameFura is a success, so why not bring in more villainesses and play THE exact game out?

Prolly gonna watch this.

@Fabris I'm not familiar with most, but at least some of the girls look hot enough.

Yasei no Last Boss? That's a cool one. With a rare Genderbending, while still being far more action packed.

The popularity of such LNs and now anime makes me suspect that the audience of otome games is simply dreaming of being the villains in such stories.

I remember some females complaining about Otome VN heroines being 2 generic/bland, goody-2-shoes/forgiving, etc. While not few villainess were very cool (even if the evil kind of cool) and usually going from pretty to hot (not to mention gorgeous dresses, specially if they are from Victorian settings).

I can see why many would think the villainess is cooler to self-insert. And most of those villainess dont even do that many evil things after their new normie consciousness transmigrate to them. Some were even objectively okay people, who got screwed by fate, or caught in a really unlucky misunderstanding.

Its already a big ass genre in manga hell way more even in manhwa on the level of its male counterpart power fantasies isekais or system manhwa or cultivation manhua

Indeed (some 4chan weirdo did this pick, so nevermind the idiocy of "class traitor" and "jew" in the nicknames...is still a good guide):

My personal favorites are Eris no Seiha (Holy Grail of Eris), even if it's NOT a isekai, also the korean ones The Way to Protect the Male Lead, Death is the Only Ending for the Villainess and Your Throne.

Man you just remind me of redo of healer for some reason .......

Dude, actually any crazy plot can be played well enough. For example, HameFura made a diamond from a highly overused female fantasy. But it takes effort and skill, otherwise you end up with something like a team of geniuses.

Fully 100% agree its all about execution at the end of the day for me.

You just forgot which characters are usually antagonists in boy romance. Grotesque and subtly annoying ikemen? It's like isekai in a creep dude in NTR porno.

I DID NOT expect this, out of all the other villainess series, to actually get adapted :000000
The first arc is actually good, looking forward to it ><

Well, I've hardly seen any male-targeted content like that. Basically, if a male MC becomes a villain in isekai, then he does it by his own decision.

I mean this is targeted as female audience just like how japan male folks self insert them into their usual action isekai mc i imagine their females does same for villains to an extent in terms of self inserting themselves tho korea does more here clearly.

I was really looking forward to hamefura and it turned out pretty disappointing. This one has actually less interesting synopsis. I might check it out anyway, but not hoping for much.

Dull, pass.
