'Lupin III: Part 6' Reveals Additional Staff Members, Guest Scriptwriters [Update 9/7]

The official website of the Lupin III: Part 6 television anime series revealed on Wednesday additional staff members, guest scriptwriters, opening theme, and the first key visual (pictured).

The anime series is scheduled to premiere on October 10 at 12:55 a.m. on NTV, followed by Sapporo TV, Aomori Broadcasting, TV Iwate, Akita Broadcasting, Fukui Broadcasting, Nishinippon Broadcasting, Nagasaki International Television, and TV Miyazaki. Hulu Japan will also stream the anime.

Mamoru Oshii (Ghost in the Shell), Masaki Tsuji (Tetsuwan Atom), and novelists Taku Ashibe, Akio Higuchi, and Kanae Minato are serving as guest scriptwriters for the anime.

Yuuji Oono & Lupintic Six with Friends will perform the opening theme "THEME FROM LUPIN III 2021."

Eiji Suganuma (Karneval (TV)) is helming the sixth installation at TMS Entertainment. Takahiro Ookura (Detective Conan: The Fist of Blue Sapphire) is handling the series composition, and Hirotaka Marufuji (Jitsu wa Watashi wa) is designing the characters. Yuuji Oono is returning to compose the music.

Monkey Punch published the original Lupin III manga between 1967 and 1972 in the Manga Action magazine. The manga spawned five television series, over ten theatrical releases, and 27 feature-length TV specials. The latest television anime in the series, Lupin III: Part 5, aired for 24 episodes from April to September in 2018.

Update September 7
The official website for the Lupin III: Part 6 anime revealed additional and returning cast members and a second promotional video on Tuesday.

Akio Ootsuka (Vinland Saga) will replace Kiyoshi Kobayashi as Daisuke Jigen after episode 0 of the new series. Kobayashi announced his retirement from the industry on the same day after voicing the character for 52 years.

Masato Obara (Mugen no Juunin: Immortal) and Sumire Morohoshi (BNA) are joining the cast as the new characters Holmes and Lily, respectively.

Returning cast from Lupin III: Part 5 (Lupin the Third Part 5) include Kenjirou Tsuda and Nobunaga Shimazaki as Albert d'Andrésy and Gorou Yatagarasu, respectively.
