The Director has said this is going to have Mechs and Magic so don't get your hopes up on this being historical.
Really? Mechas in an anime like this? Hmmm
yeah this is the exact quote:
“In a war-torn feudal Japan filled with mechs and magic, the greatest ronin never known, Yasuke, struggles to maintain a peaceful existence after a past life of violence. But when a local village becomes the center of social upheaval between warring daimyo, Yasuke must take up his sword and transport a mysterious child who is the target of dark forces and bloodthirsty warlords."
Personally, It has hampered my excitement for the show I would much prefer something that was more historical than how they are describing it

That's exactly my opinion.
I know it's from Mappa (I think SnK could be so much better, Jujutsu was amazing) but from the trailer, everything looks great!

we havent gotten a good samurai anime in a while so im hyped. no fantasy or anything just cool men with swords.
i looked into the actual yasuke as well and i wonder if they're gonna take a more historical route or if they're juts gonna focus on the action bit.
That's exactly my opinion.

I'm in no hurry. It's just that pretty much all shows get an entry on MAL a few hours after they're announced (like Jojo Part 6, that got announced today). Yasuke has been announced for a while now, so I was just kinda confused.
Those are regular TV shows, it's normal they have priority over ONA

Why are you in such a hurry?? It will be a 6 episodes ONA, that kind of episodes packs no one ever watch anyway

MAL is sharing the news for it, then why doesn't it have an entry here?

American karate masters were real people too, but people continue to call racist works based on these tropes.
Iron Fist isn't a real person, Yasuke is (however I really haven't seen anyone call American karate masters racist, if they did then that's dumb as hell)
They called it racist the very idea that a non-Asian becomes a master of the oriental martial arts, as it is supposedly cultural appropriation.

I suddenly agree with Miyazaki on anime being a mistake

I said back in the 1980's and 1990's. Of course not ALL of the American Masters then were fakes and frauds but there were TONS of them back then as well as there being racist representation in fiction when it came to East Asians. You pointing out that Americans spoke out against Iron Fist being White in 2016 doesn't make everything I'm saying (that is true) not true. The fact of the matter is racism against East Asians is not taken anywhere near as seriously as other ethnicities like Arab, Black or Latino. If you think otherwise you're in denial. And if you were right we'd be seeing a lot more media coverage when it came to anti Asian hate crimes but guess what? we don't and no one is speaking out against it like they did with Trumps Wall, George Floyd or The anti Muslim crimes.
Just last year I saw the news about the Asian Students' Union suing a major American university for discriminating against white and Asian applicants for wanting to take black students. You can speculate as much as you like about your subjective impressions, but please do not claim this as an obvious fact. Especially in the extremely pretentious form "you either agree with me or you are wrong."
Then there were a lot of them all over the world, because until these years there was no boom in the oriental martial arts in the world and many scammers took advantage of this. Trying to use this as an attack on modern day masters is pretty rude, isn't it?
Well, I gave you an example where people were furious about the media coverage of the work, where the whiteness of the protagonist was an important element of the premise. What can you say about this? I didn’t hear an answer, just not a very lucky attempt to get around it. We can also remember the Gods of Tsushima who were attacked by Asian American snowflakes.
Dude you're literally not even reading my posts. I SAID NOT ALL Masters were scammers. I said A LOT of them BACK THEN were. I never even said anything about Modern Day Masters today being scammers. Yet you keep insisting I am cause you're either not comprehending what I'm saying or you're cherry picking what fits your argument. I already explained to you and addressed what you said but you refuse to comprehend or read it. Racism against East Asians and East Asian support in America is not on the same scale as other ethnicities like I mentioned in my previous post. People in America were not protesting in the streets for Hong Kong like they were BLM and George Floyd, The Hispanics and Trumps Wall or The Syrians and the Muslim community. People even now are not protesting in the streets across America for the Anti Asian Hate crimes. The media is covering it but they aren't pushing it like they did for any of the above examples I gave. Neither are any BIG corporations and businesses supporting them like the above did.
No my impressions aren't subjective. I'm literally giving you all the reasons clear as day as to why you're wrong. Yes some people had a problem with Iron Fist being white, but guess what? it didn't stop them from making the show. They still made it. If it was a White guy playing a black person the outrage would have been enough to get the show outright cancelled or corrected. Lastly, if it were Black people being discriminated against to take white students instead they would not need to sue the University in hope get anything changed. The media cover and outrage would be enough to get it done pretty much immediately. As I keep saying, the same level of support is not the same. If you can't understand that then that's you choosing to be blind to it.

It's cool they're making an Anime about Yasuke but it's fucking terrible that it's going to be in Netflix Jail. It's also terrible that this Anime is going to have a lot of controversy surrounding it due to race politics. Alt lefts will have a new show to put on a pedestal and alt rights will have a new show to complain about.
What? lol Racism against East Asians might as well not even exist in America cause no one takes it seriously. Without getting too political just look at the treatment they've been getting since Corona. Alt lefts will have no problem with this cause it's not black, Hispanic or any other controversial ethnicity getting shit on. If it's Asian there is no problem. By the way, no one ever was calling American Karate masters being in fiction racist cause they were too busy stealing from them. There were a TON of real American "Masters" that were frauds and piggy backing off the backs of real masters and going as far as creating their own Martial Art systems and claiming they were high ranking masters in already existing Martial Arts despite them being full of shit and no one cared.
