Konishi, Hayashibara, and Takayama are returning from the original anime series. The new anime will adapt all 35 complete edition volumes Kodansha began publishing on June 17. The 13th volume went on sale on Thursday.

The supernatural adventure manga debuted in Weekly Shounen Jump in 1998 before ending abruptly in 2004 with 32 volumes. Jump SQ. serialized a reprinted edition in 2008–2009, featuring the series' "true ending." Takei drew the Shaman King Zero two-volume prequel from 2011 to 2014, and the Shaman King: Flowers sequel between 2012 and 2014 in Jump X.

Xebec produced a 64-episode television anime between Summer 2001 and Fall 2002. 4Kids Entertainment formerly held the anime's license in North America and released an English dub. Funimation released five uncut DVD volumes from 2004–2005.

VIZ Media published all 32 volumes of the original manga in English from August 2003 to January 2011. However, the company no longer holds the license for the series. Kodansha acquired the Shaman King trademark from Shueisha in December 2017.

Shounen Magazine Edge began serializing Shaman King: The Super Star, the new arc in the manga series, in May 2018. Kodansha published the fourth volume on June 17.

You + hao : maria + kanade from symphogear, however minus tsubasa. If tsubasa join the casts, she will have yuri route for both

Great news! I have fond memories watching the first series on TV back in the day. I'll definitely keep an eye out for this one.

Dude that is nuts, I just watched the original show. They announced this like a week after I just finished it hahah.

Well, cool! It's a really tight show!

The design is pretty good tbh. But the staff is had me worried. Hikasa being the MC is weird choice tho

Like the promotional video, looks fine.
Will be better if the studio was NUT or Ufotable, but this is what we have.
Bridge = Fairy Tail, Saint Seiya Soul of Gold, Devil Summoner 2.

Anna and Hao have the original voice that is sweet.

I finish for first time to watch this month, shaman king 1080p in audio japanese and spanish subtitles.
It was a really enjoyable trip, only get a little wracked knowing that Ryu is bisexual (his 2 friends,Billy, Lyserg, Yoh) and pedofile (Milly of Lilis Five), but is one of the best characters leaving that aside.
(I watched a lot of time in spanish lationamerican in normal resolution DVD)
Is one of my favorites animes along with Orphen (that have 2 new seasons this years,
waiting for season two, is only good because have a super low cheapest budget to do it)

The special was ah good adition, and the 3er recap with Ponchi insulting specially to Anna saying it conceited bitch... have no price lol.
That recap have and easter egg for the final song of the movie Leon the profesional "In the shape of love" amazing, and have 2 mini amvs in the last part, one for the lilis five, and one in general.

It's the first shonen anime that no one of the main characters die, only some subordinates of Hao and Jeanne.
The really main characters are Anna and Manta, then Yoh ("I", "You"), Len ("Ren"), appear a little, Hao,Jeane, Lyserg only are there
for you to know that a "Final Boss" exist, and appear almost never (except Hao to throw a few sentences, must from time to time).
Horohoro, Fausto, Silver, Father of Yoh, Family of Yoh, they are like the backstage.

The manga takes "3 new arcs" mostly and much more gore and deads, it will be much better if they skip the new stuff of the Soldiers X if you know what i mean.

are there no more available male VA or what?
there are plenty of dudes despite their age that have the range to voice a younger boy

I'm so excited for this. People who only watched the original show have no idea how good stuff gets later.

Wow, the PV looked pretty good but I hope Studio Bridge being in charge won’t be a bad sign for this reboot.

Looks like complete trash.Animation looks like gacha-tier dogshit. No Yuko Sato for Yoh...yuck!
Takei is a sellout. Fuck Kodansha too.
Soulless trash.

I'm wondering why Hikaru Midorikawa isn't coming back as Hao? Katsuyuki and Megumi are coming back for their roles, minus Yoh's original seiyuu which I assume does not do voice acting work anymore, so that's understandable. But Hikaru is still active as heck. I don't see why he'd turn the role down? Unless particular schedules conflicted but I'm unsure :c Just a tad bothered since Hao is my favorite.

Hikaru Midorikawa was Silva Patch and Hao Patch's (aka Hao's previous incarnation) VA.
Minami Takayama is Hao's original VA.

I see. It's been literally over a decade since I watched when I was little so I probably forgot what he sounded like and got confused.

Midorikawa was Hao's VA but only in few scenes when Hao was an older dude, if I remember correctly? I wouldn't say he's definitely not coming back, we just don't know yet. We don't even know what about the other characters' (Ren, Horo-Horo, Ryu etc.) voice actors, so I guess we have to wait for more info.

The good:
Music: Yuuki Hayashi (Boku no Hero Academia)
Sound Director: Masafumi Mima (Shingeki no Kyojin)
Sound Production: King Records

The questionable:
Director: Jouji Furuta (Nanatsu no Taizai: Imashime no Fukkatsu)
Series Composition: Shouji Yonemura (Kiseijuu: Sei no Kakuritsu)

The really questionable:
Character Design: Toshihiko Sano (Fairy Tail: Final Series)
Studio: Bridge

Well, at least it will sound good. That's a plus for me.

Never saw the original because as a kid I thought I wouldn't like it. Guess I will try the OG. Looks like Hitman Reborn a lot to me

Yoko Hikasa is an odd choice for You Asakura as I only knew her voice as female characters. Such as Mio in K-ON! and Diana in Little Witch Academia. It would be interesting to see how she handles this character. The teaser shows she can handle the voice, so maybe she can do it after all. His battle grunts might be a challenge for her though. Gonna miss the original VA for You.

I only watched Shaman King English dub in early 2000s on TV, and maybe saw a few of scenes with Japanese voices, and frankly I don't remember what Yuko Sato sounds like, despite hearing her in several anime before...

I do intend to see original anime with subs before starting a new one, but, IMO, Yoko Hikasa honestly sounds good as Yoh, and I don't think I ever heard her voicing male character before.

And I'm glad that they decided not to recast him with male seiyu.

Also, nice to know some of the original seiyu are returning.
