Second Season of 'Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu' Announced

At the Kadokawa booth at AnimeJapan 2019 on Saturday, a second anime season for Tappei Nagatsuki and Shinichirou Ootsuka's Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu (Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-) light novel series was announced.

The cast members for Subaru Natsuki, Emilia, Pack, Rem, Ram, Beatrice, and Roswaal L. Mathers have been confirmed to reprise their roles in the sequel.

Nagatsuki originally launched the novel on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website in April 2012. Kadokawa began publishing the series with illustrations by Ootsuka under its MF Bunko J imprint in January 2014. The 19th volume is scheduled for a March 27 release. Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu has a cumulative 5 million copies of its volumes in circulation.

Daichi Matsuse drew the first manga adaptation in Comic Alive between June 2014 and February 2015. A second manga adaptation by Makoto Fuugetsu ran in Big Gangan magazine from 2014 to 2017. Matsuse began a third manga adaptation in Comic Alive in May 2015, which has nine volumes in print as of last November.

White Fox produced the first anime adaptation in Spring 2016, covering the first nine volumes. Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu: Memory Snow, the first original video animation in the series, premiered in Japanese theaters last October. Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu: Hyouketsu no Kizuna, which adapts the prequel novel included with the first Blu-ray volume, will open in Japan in Fall 2019.

Funimation licensed the anime series in North America and shipped the second and final Blu-ray and DVD volume on February 5. Yen Press licensed the novel in December 2015 and released the ninth volume on February 19. The company also publishes the manga adaptations and the Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu Ex side story.

The manga is not the source material, it is also an adaptration.
It is based on a light novel (which itself is based on a web novel).
The anime ends somewhere in volume 9 of the light novel.

Last time I checked, the manga still hadn't caught the anime yet. It should be about either hunting the whale or killing Betelgeuse. Someone might need to correct me if things changed since then but I doubt it.

Also NGNL had a movie not long ago.

The first three episodes (with episode one being double size, sometimes cut in two) is the first arc.
Episode 4-11 (the manor thing) is arc 2.
Episodes 12-25 (with the whale and cult) is arc 3.
The anime ends at like 95% of arc 3 so if they adapt arc 4, they should put the end of arc 3 at the very beginning if S2.

By the witch you mean Satella, right? We will see her after some time during the season.
As for a why he was summoned... we are given a clue but it doesn't necessarily mean it is truly the case as for why or how. It could be true or it could be a red herring.

We are given lots of answers but new questions get introduced so...

I heard that the next storyline after Season 1 will have alot more character development, so I'm looking forward to see if I end up liking S2 more than the first season. I enjoyed the first season, but I felt I couldn't bring myself to love it as much as others, mainly because I felt like Rem just wasn't that interesting of a character and it focused too much on her. Here's hoping my opinion on this show will change for the better.

well, the whole story is planned to be roughly 11 arcs long and the anime only covered the first 3 arcs, which is roughly 15% into the story. so, you could expect some answers, but not all
