Actress Kirin Kiki Dies

Various media have reported that actress Kirin Kiki died on Saturday at her house. She was 75 years old.

According to the reports, she had undergo surgeries due to retinal detachment on her left eye, breast cancer, and femoral neck fracture in the past. Even though she was well, she still died around her family on Saturday.

Kiki is a well-known actress who was active in TV dramas, movies, commercials, narrations, etc. and won many awards, including the Japan Academy Prize. As a seiyuu, she voiced Onba from Brave Story, Haru from Karigurashi no Arrietty, Yamanba from Ryuu no Ko Tarou, and more.

Born Keiko, she was married to musician and actor Uchida Yuuya, but they mostly lived separately and later divorced in 1981.

Oh man she starred in quite a few Kore'eda's movies. She was a stupendous actress. I'll never forget her performance in Still Walking.
