that really happens? i haven't watched it tho so idk how gay it is lol
but it is one of most influential gl anime, i see a lot of people asking for its continuation even after all these years
Well, I've often heard that it and Mai-Otome are "incredibly gay", but judging from what I read on TV Trops, both of these shows are quite far from the current trend of turning any mahou shoujo into yuri.

*4. *,947 ***,947 Citrus Vol.2
*9. *,576 **5,778 Darling in the FranXX Vol.1 Limited Edition
15. *,297 **2,287 Ryuuou no Oshigoto! Vol.2 Limited Edition
And so, Darling proved to be more successful than Violet, and Citrus, despite all the hype, sold half the disks than the harem with loli. Oh, I still need to think it over.
*8. *,613 *61,989 Girls & Panzer: Saishuushou Chapter 1
That is, at the moment, Girls are several times more popular than Love Live? Or was this trend always?
violet will probably end up averaging more than darling
and girls and panzer sells more discs than love live but it doesn't mean it's more popular than it, love live is a multimedia franchise
Was it that bad?
I mean some episodes is quite great really.
It was overhyped and praised though.
Tbh 1k sales could be considered low.
And the anime was alright but still bad technically.
Yeah, I don't really follow disc sales at all but I don't think there's any best selling shoujo-ai series at all, maybe Yuru Yuri? Feelsbadman
The show was so-so it's alright, maybe that upcoming show in fall that everyone's hyping about.
best selling shoujo-ai shows are mai-hime and maria sama, both averaged 10k in 2004, yuru yuri would be the 3rd best selling gl anime with 8k average sales

5K+ for something thats already available to watch on Netflix is a really good amount, who knows how much more it would've sold otherwise
Also buying BD/DVD is not solely for the anime, but it contains bonuses. Could be event ticket, poster, original illustration, animation draft, or the most recent and genius, Takagi-san PE uniform lol.

Wow, sales are so low for all of them! Selling physical copies is definitely not how they make money...
Well, i do agree with you. Japan should better rely on Digital sales for newer generation rather than just still focusing on psychial sales. We are getting a lot of streaming sites and online manga, after all.

VE is more watched and better rated than Darli-fra in Japan and in the west. Darli-fra has more negative opinion than positive ones. Those are also facts.
And it is possible from this place more in detail?

Violet Evergarden sold 6.9K for volume 1.
Darli-fra sold 6.4K for volume 1.
Also, VE is said to be the highest paid streamed anime till date. KyoAni already made a lot of profit by selling the streaming right. Besides, they have a model based on salary and not commission unlike other studios, so while it wouldn't change how much the animators got based on the streaming money, as a production studio, they earned quite a lot of money. VE is also OWNED by KyoAni so their profit through disc sales would be the same as any original anime like darli-fra. If we consider that two studios were involved in the production of darli-fra AND the amount of promotional investment they had (KyoAni's promotional investment were covered by Netflix as well) their return is not that great.

In that and the problem is that there yuri no more than in many especially yuri-ish manga from Manga Time Kirara. Not to mention that many yuri beit shows from Trigger are more yuri than Yuru.
@Cybertron Hmm, thank you for the information. I know that Girls & Panzer has more fanservice in different spin-offs in manga, but it always seemed to me that this show was too serious to be more popular than Love Live.
Japan can be serious too sometimes :D I mean just look at each time a hunter x hunter volumes comes out of hiatus, because of the story and (maybe collection value or something)
Why even some of my favourite games like the legend of heroes trials series are popular and serious (90% of the time anyway) about the story
Well, that's good news. I used to think that only the idols or mobage adaptations had the highest sales.

@Antagonized If to compare with the "official" shoujo ai, then Yuru Yuri is nothing more than a comic slice of life with an overabundance of gay jokes. However, Doga Kobo coped quite well with its adaptation.
Except Yuru Yuri is shoujo-ai through and through

Girls & Panzer was always popular in japan just like monogatari series or school live or highschool DxD(well light novels of DxD anyway)

Nevertheless, the second volume has earned less and I do not see actual discussions about this show. Although there may be a last one due to different length of broadcast...
It's normal for subsequent vols not sold as much as the first,
It's nothing to be concerned with as long as theres no big gaps inbetween.
&Ditf would probably follow that normal pattern too.
Oh, I won't argue. In any case, I still do not know how Darling will end, but I expected that Violet will earn at least 7-8 ka.
