Checked the ANN page about its home video rankings. Seems that before dropping off it sold around 2800 copies per volume. Those aren't "second season" numbers. Especially not now, when there's no ongoing source material to advertise.

Maybe the anime adaptation was not popular in japan or it didn't follow the light novel.

Actually how come Accel World never get s2. The light novel is still relevant and the BD sales of season 1 was very good. I think thats guaranteed profit.

I mean rank 6 isn't bad at all for the final volume.
But I honestly don't know how good or bad the first anime season sold, so let's just wait and see.
