It was obviously not what they wanted, that should have been season 3's material but they had to cut it off to a single movie.

It was not what they wanted but it was definetly something they needed after the burden of the 3rd and 4th season.
It seemed better off as a movie than a 12 episode series, the pacing is better off that way.

I'm pretty excited about this. I've always wanted an excuse to get into the original

I'm kin of pessimistic with this one. Might do a rewatch with this series, however I thought after like the 2nd season it went on a mass decline. And reason why Im doing the rewatch? The film. I still need to go and check.

As long as the 4 main cast is the focus instead of those 2 dorks who take themselves too seriously.

In both last years special and the movie, Feathers were pretty much limited to what felt like contractually-obligated cameos.

I agree that the 3rd and 4th were complete trash that we should never bring up ever again. However, the 2016 movie was an absolute masterpiece for fans of the franchise; the connections it made for all 4 series was a joy to see and the plot was just something over the top for a series that was mostly a comedy.
I'm glad that we can see Milky Holmes back in action again. The title looks promising with everyone's favourite villain Arsene, we'll probably see Stone River, Twenty and Rat again too. Can't forget G4, Saku has always been best girl of the series.

This franchise just doesn't die. Is it that popular in japan?
Not that I'm complaining, will watch it.
