Digital idol group 22/7 (Nanabun no Nijuuni), created by AKB48 and Nogizaka46 producer Yasushi Akimoto, announced their debut CD single and an anime adaptation at a live performance event on Saturday.

Akimoto began auditions for the group in October 2016, and eleven members were chosen from 10,325 applicants in December. Eight of the members have been assigned anime characters to voice, while three members have not been assigned. A manga series of these characters, titled Ano Hi no Kanojo-tachi, has been published since the April 2017 issue of Newtype magazine.

The debut single of 22/7, titled "Boku wa Sonzai Shiteinakatta," will go on sale on September 20, 2017. In addition to the title song, it will also include the song "Chikatetsu Teikou Shugi," a third untitled song, and their instrumental versions.

Well I am pretty interested in this, though I'm wondering which studio and staff will work on this one but we'll have to see.

As far as character design goes, it's screaming "Kyoani!" in your face.

It's not. It just reminds Kyoani because the character designer for the anime is Yukiko, who worked on Kyoani in the last decade in K-on, Lucky Star and Tamako Market as character designer.

Yeah you have a point, especially since they look similar as shit. If it is the case then looks like KyoAni is jumping on the idol trend (not like its a bad thing to be perfectly clear).

And it looks promising since I think the singers (seiyuu) are experienced.

They're actually rookies. The requirement of the auditions was that they couldn't be a member of an agency, and experienced seiyuu typically are already signed to a talent agency.
eh...? Really? I thought they were somewhat experienced because their voice are pretty nice.. It looks like my ears deceived me lol XD

Thanks for the info! XD

I'll give the anime a try, it shouldn't be bad at all, but it will probably an extremely hard sell getting me to supporting it knowing that it's ran by someone who runs both groups I often have grievances for due to business practices.
