I guess DanMachi sales have increased with the new anime... ??

Apr 23, 2017 2:28 AM by TuyNOM

For Grimgar fans that didn't see much growth in this volume. Volumes 3 and volume 10 will be getting reprints. Official Overlap twitter is the source.

Expected a bit more from Clockwork Planet but then again its not really a hot topic or anything.

On the other hand the size of a sales boost from an anime in Japan has little to no bearing on the chance of a series getting licensed in the West.

Oops, my bad.

For future reference though, what factors affect the chances of a series getting licensed?

1. Whether the foreign licensor thinks it will sell well in their language market.
2. Who the Japanese publishing label is.
3. How much the Japanese publisher/author wish to push the series with a foreign audience.

That's basically it. Obviously various things can influence #1 and #3, and a big boost from an anime in Japan may make the Japanese publisher want to push that series for an English language release, but at the end of the day it really isn't that significant.

Whew Fate/Baccano Durarara still selling well. I hope this leads to Narita actually doing better work on his actually important series rather than the one he is paid to make.

Otherwise, the flavor of the season LN gets an anime advert boost, nothing new. SukaSuka deserves far more boost than the fanservice title.

Seriously what's with Fate/stange Fake, is it a parody/comedy, is it just another series.

Its pretty much Durarara but with a fate skin. Its an okay read but its pretty much just that. Sales are mainly due to the fate brand.

Is it just me, or is Clockwork Planet utterly missing from this list. At this rate, it's never going to get licensed. Oh well, Guess we'll have to see how the anime sales go.

Not just not on the rankings but nowhere near them. Even the first volume is 241st on the POS bunko ranks - below every volume of eromanga-sensei and perhaps 1.5k sales tops? Vol 2 375th (joint with volume 1 of Biblia), and vols 3+ not in the top 500.

The order of the boosts of light novels (on the basis of boosts for the first 2 volumes - so no influence from new volumes) at the moment seems to be:
1. Akashic Records
2. Eromanga Sensei
3. Sakurada Reset
4. SukaSuka
5. Zero kara Hajimeru Mahou no Sho
6. Clockwork Planet
7. SaeKano season 2 (2nd seasons always give smaller boosts)
8. DanMachi Sword Oratoria (seems to be functioning similarly to a second season)

On the other hand the size of a sales boost from an anime in Japan has little to no bearing on the chance of a series getting licensed in the West.

Glad to see Rokudenashi getting that massive boost, same for Eromanga-sensei.

Lol that seems impossible ahaha

Why?

In print does not mean sold. And a lot of these volumes are being sold in places that do not report to Oricon.

The tweet seems to suggest that the 120k is the total between vols 1 and 2 as well, unless I'm misreading it. So 60k per volume. For a series with millions of viewers. It's a good deal cheaper than most anime would be as well.

Oh well that makes sense ^^

It's another series about a "fake" grail war (I guess) with Gilgamesh as a main character. Which is all I need to want it licensed.

Gilgamesh is everything in this world

Rokudenashi defying the odds and getting that big boost :)
Eromanga also going up.

Akashic records has three volumes on this list. I'm impressed.

When can we get sequels to Rakudai and Mondaiji tachi

Apr 20, 2017 5:34 AM by NG_Chloe

Fab starts to the boost for Eromanga-sensei and more so Rokudenashi Majutsu Koushi to Akashic Records, hope it continues for a while especially for the former which had a stellar opening 2 episodes. Would love a full adaptation like Oreimo had when the time comes.

Nice to see Heavy Object going relatively steady as well. Shame the anime resulted in almost zero noticeable boost.

Give me a Rakudai season 2, dammit.

Although I'm going to assume it's volume 1, you didn't actually write out which volume the top Rokudenashi seller was in the OP @Snow (#7 on the list)

Volume 1 of Rokudenashi Majutsu Koushi to Akashic Records doesn't have any number in its title.
Ehh fair enough, that seems kinda stupid to me though. If it's a standalone release it's one thing but if you plan to make a multi-volume series it sounds pretty natural to name the first volume as volume 1 to me :s
