Multimedia Project 'Sanrio Danshi' Gets TV Anime Adaptation

It was announced that Sanrio Danshi project will get a TV anime adaptation. More information will be announced via Sanrio Expo on February 3, 2017.

Sanrio Danshi is a multimedia project started in November 2015. The characters of Sanrio Danshi support each Sanrio characters. Kouta Hasegawa, voiced by Takuya Eguchi, supports the yellow Pom Pom Purin. Yuu Mizuno, voiced by Soma Saito, supports My Melody. Shunsuke Yoshino, voiced by Jun Oosuka, supports Hello Kitty. Ryou Nishimiya, voiced by Hiroyuki Kagura, supports Little Twin Stars: Kiki and Lala. Seiichiro Minamoto, voiced by Yuuma Uchida, supports Cinnamoroll. An app game adaptation was released last Fall and a manga adaptation started its serialization via Sho-Comi last April.

Like the designs, but don't have much hope about any kind of plot for now @_@ Well, maybe at least it will be a little entertaining?

The TV anime is slated for Winter 2018 and all the cast members I mentioned will be appearing in the series.

Unlike manga, there will be no heroine in the anime, just how 5 guys who likes Sanrio characters met and spent time together.

It could be pretty funny. I mean, imagine the boys wearing "Hello Kitty" accessories or a sweater with a huge picture of "Angel Cat Sugar", while still having a straight face.

But seriously though, they already did something Hello Kitty releated aimed at a male otaku audience with the "Hello Kitty to Issho" moe girls (strip?) game. It was only a matter of time until they targeted the fujoshis as well.
