The battle scenes in the PV were all CGI soldiers though. Better than usual CGI, but CGI nonetheless

Man, those battle scenes in Chain Chronicle looks great. Anime is seriously lacking in good battle scenes. They're either made of CGI soldiers or just poorly choreographed.

Then let me rephrase that to "poor CGI." Combine poor CGI with bad choreography and you'll have a mess. Arslan tried to have battle scenes too, but the clunky movements combined with unimaginative choreography just looked really bad. Not that the anime in itself was bad, but it was hard not to notice the lackluster battles when copy pasted soldiers awkwardly jab at each other on barren terrain.

Chain Chronicle looking so good.
Not interested in Monster Strike but that movie looks like it'll have a lot of good animation.
And why is Anno a sound director? lol
