Oh my god. You killed me. I could just see them talking.

is there a name for things like this? Like, the short exchanges people make up as companies do ridiculous things?

Don't know about official names, but the company I interned at just called them brainstorm meetings.

I immediately thought about Tom Cruise in Tropic Thunder when I read this article. I just had to.

I meant the type of exaggerations of the brainstorm meetings. I see people making those and I freaking love them!

Thanks for the laugh. But wasn't the last Yamato series also released in 7 OVAs? Movie here seems like just a fancier version of OVAs.

Seems like the trailer is inspired by 2001 a space oddyseey

Guy pitching idea: "Sir, seeing as the last Yamato adaptation did fairly well. We were thinking of starting up new project. We think the best format would be a 2-cour tele....."

Studio Head: "SEVEN MOVIES."

Guy: "Sir...we can probably do this more efficiently and chea."

SH: "SEVEN FUCKING MOVIES!!! WE WILL RELEASE THEM OVER 20 YEARS."

Guy: "But sir, this will bankrupt us think about the budget."

Here's the deal: Yamato 2202 will follow the same production format as Yamato 2199. 26 episodes formatted for TV. They will be initially released in theaters and on video in 7 chapters. Chapter 1 (coming Feb 25) will consist of eps 1 and 2. All subsequent chapters will contain four eps each. They are released a few months apart. 2199 was released in its entirety over about a year and a half.

All the information on this (and I mean ALL the information) can be found on my website, ourstarblazers.com. It updates once a month, with the next update coming this Thursday. That will have all the latest news on 2202.

7 movies boils down to a two-cour series.

26 episode season, like the original, would translate to 7 movies with runtimes of roughly 80 minutes each. So the entire thing could be released in span of year or two. At least thats what I think will happen.

You can find all the information about it's release here

Also I'm not saying everything will happened exactly the way I'm saying it will, but I don't see why it wouldn't considering the initial release is so similar.

Thanks man, good to know.

Uh everyone here does realize that Space Battleship Yamato 2199 was released in exactly the same way right? There were 7 movies, which were then released as 3 part episodes. If this is being done in the same way, all of the movies will be out in around two years, year in a half starting in February. Which will then be released as 26 episodes.

I would like to see sources on that.
