TV Anime of MMORPG 'Onigiri' Announced for Spring 2016

An official site has opened for a TV anime adaptation of the MMORPG (massively multiplayer online role-playing game) Onigiri. The series is scheduled to air from April 2016 on the Tokyo MX and BS Fuji television networks. An initial key visual design has also been revealed.

Onigiri is developed by CyberStep and was launched for the PC in Japan in December 2013. It began service in North America in July 2014. Console editions were released on the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 in October 2015. It is set in a fantasy land resembling ancient Japan where humans coexist with demons (oni) and spiritual monsters (youkai). Players battle against god eaters (kamigui) who rampage through the land.

I played this game and actually like it. I hope the anime adaptation is somewhat interesting.

i'm a little upset i'm only just now hearing about this, aside from the game mechanics and whatnot i actually rather enjoy this game and have been playing it for the past few months now. i especially love the story although i don't see anime actually adapting the story, probably just a bunch of fanservice but i'm perfectly fine with that.

Too bad that it doesn't mean there's been a lot of decent MMORPG style Anime. They all suffer through bullshit, asspulls(SAO when Kirito and Asuna should've died in the real world but then that'll be... TOO LOGICAL?)

There seems to be a lot of mmorpg style anime going around recently. some based of real games and some we wish were real games (Sword art online for real? Oh hell yeah id like that).

The concept is interesting and unlike some movies based on computer games which bombed #cough super mario brothers cough cough# They seem to be doing a decent job of the anime of these games. Just started to watch the anime of phantasy star online 2 and its allready got me wondering about the game itself. Next stop world of warcraft anime PLEASE!!!!

But given how the game is a mess, that's not saying much if anything to be honest but people in Japan eat this stuff so what do I know.

Until the disappointment settles in due to Fanservice that's only in the Anime Version, or the fact that the story will suck like most Anime based on MMORPGS or games.

Woah, this is such a good news. I've been playing this game since the alpha test and now, the game is like losing it's player base. I hope this could encourage anime fans to play the game.

and here we have it, another game getting an adaptation, and coming this spring, not going to be very good but judging from the of the pv it looks like it will cater towards the people who like fanservice a hell of a lot, not surprised its how they get the attention now a days, ah well ill check it out and laugh at how bad it will be. i will be surprised if its somewhat any good

I hope this fails and Cyberstep gets shut down. I hate them and they hate me. They GM's are terrible they only name themselves after food. They don't know anything + they conspire against the players.
