Great news. All I need is this.

Love Live! is #1 again for the 2nd year in a row in the COSPA (survey) cosplay sales ranking. Not surprising, considering 43.4% of the Love Live! fanbase is female (30.5% are of age 15 to 19). Shingeki no Kyojin's fanbase is 48.1% female (11.9% are of age 15 to 19). For the other results, it seems to be from recently (within the last few years) aired anime... except for Hatsune Miku who has always been a popular cosplay amongst females.

There's plenty of shows that have full price first volumes that only have one episode, the duration has nothing to do with it nor does it change the fact that the price was half.

Rakudai isn't harem, Asterisk is selling above comparable "battle harem" shows from previous years/seasons, and Taimadou is the only one flopping, probably because of it being rushed heavily.

They aren't, and they wont.

all the crap battle harems seem to be flopping, good, maybe studios will make less of them (i can only hope)

So it sold pretty much the same as the previous ova.

You're forgetting something important: animes are made, in most cases, to promote some other material, original or not (manga, light novel, live action movie, game, music, toys, and even travel to a particular region) .

In many cases, even selling well in BD / DVD, if the original material does not have an expected increase in sales, the anime will rarely win a sequel. But if on the other hand he sell some (BD / DVD), and the original draft is a large increase in sales, anime fulfilled its function.

Decrease the amount of animes every season, for producers and editors, also means less exposure (advertising) of their titles. And what most of them want is that there is an increase in sales of original material, as soon as possible (first few volumes) and the numbers remain stable until the end of the publication.

I tried to put into a buggy custom translator, only has autumn titles tho.

damn so One Punch Man did not hit the 10K sales mark, but still the 8K sales is still a success and the manga sales have a huge boost anyway which is more important

Nah, moodie is right, you have no concept of the anime market if you think 3k+ sales for one volume is bad these days. On average, more than ~3.5k disc sales for one volume of a 12 episode cour (assuming 2 episodes per volume) is profitable. Unless it is like UBW budget levels, most anime studios would be content with that. Even if you sell less than that weekly, like 70% of anime eventually profit. But 3.5k+ sales per volume is easily enough for a reasonably budgeted show to profit.

You're also failing to realize that for Rakudai and other late-released shows (not sure about Asterisk and Antimagic), the Oricon list this week only seems to be including Amazon Japan sales, as Rakudai's sales match the predicted Stalker points almost exactly (which are largely based on Amazon Japan pre-orders). So they likely aren't including the brick and mortar sales it sold out at, or CDJapan and Amiami, or the restock, etc due to having only a couple days to grab data. Not only that, but that's 3.2k Amazon sales in only 3 days, not even a full week, while short-stocked. In all likelihood, Rakudai probably pushed more than 4k disc sales in that first 3 days, and could likely get above ~5k discs by the end of its first week this Friday. If it continues to sell reasonably well, Silver Link will have more than turned a profit on it. Asterisk isn't doing great, but it will probably sell enough to turn a profit as well (though I haven't been following it so I'm not sure).

You're insane if you think studios just pump out material without intent to profit.

I think I know more then you do. Since there are many show made, a lot of them sold very few units, which would not have happened if there weren't so many shows competing for the exact same market.

Think of it this way: otaku that wanted to buy a battle harem this season could choose between three of them. Maybe if there was only one battle harem, it could have potentially gotten all the buyers. I know it's not that simple, but instead of 3 series doing poor-->average, we could have had one that did great.
