Capcom has announced at Tokyo Game Show 2015 that its upcoming role-playing game Monster Hunter Stories will be adapted into a TV anime and broadcast on Fuji TV in 2016. Stories, which is also scheduled for release on the Nintendo 3DS in 2016, is a spin-off work of the popular action role-playing game series Monster Hunter.

Another spin-off work, MonHun Nikki Poka Poka Airou Mura, was adapted into two flash anime shorts in Summer 2010 and Summer 2011.

This is the first I've heard about this and I'm mostly just excited because I was just today lamenting the lack of Monster Hunter games in which a monster could be tamed and ridden when lo and behold there it is, they're making one.

It's fantastic that a good series like Monster Hunter gets a childish anime based on a spin-off and instead a mediocre series like God Eater gets a decent anime.

Tried this on TGS, original MonHun is still better but this one is really fun in its own way.

Will probably check the anime later

I would have preferred an anime adaptation of the main series. This spin-off looks extremely "kid-friendly" to me, and not in a good kind of way.

Im with you on that

Not the kind of Monster Hunter anime I envisioned but I might give it a shot. I wish I never lost interest in this series but I just never liked the transition to nintendo. I played MH3 Wii and MH3U on 3DS but I couldn't keep playing any longer even with friends. I miss the good ole' days of playing MHF2 and MHFU on PSP. I probably won't play again unless they miraculously release on Sony systems (to which I highly doubt would happen).

Nah, it looks so childish, but we can't judge an anime by how it looks. *cough* *cough* School Days

Hmm looks good enough, the promotional poster I mean.

Meh. I'll watch it for the fun of it.

And we never know, it could be a good surprise ^^

No thanks, the game sucks for starters, I can't see this being any better.
You probably don't have friends to play with. MH is more fun playing with friends and online

Yes....FUCKING YES!!!

I've been playing MH since MH1 and I have racked up over 400 hours in each MH game. Except MH4, I only played 100 hours. It's sad to see that not a lot of users here play MH. You guys are missing out. It's one of the best co-op game I have ever played.

Wait a minute...Why am I getting my hopes up? MH does not have a story to begin with and that's the whole point of the MH series.

Damn, lame. I was expecting something more like the doujins or those episodes of Gintama.

The game looks cute (a bit pokemon-ish), but I have never in my entire existence played a MonHan game before, and this is a spin off so I'll probably pass this time. I'm sure this anime's merchandise will be extremely cute.

Since MH Stories is pokemon-like game and have a focus market for children, the anime version must be like youkai watch

Yup exactly.
Still surprising how long it took for an anime to be made considering how big a franchise Monster Hunter is.

Ye looks like this one's going out to the little ones.

Not gonna waste my time with this, I only watch 3deep5me shows.
