Capcom has announced at Tokyo Game Show 2015 that a TV anime adaptation of the visual novel series Gyakuten Saiban, also known by its English title Ace Attorney, has been green-lit. The anime will premiere in Spring 2016 on Japan's terrestrial networks. Previously, the franchise has also received a live-action film, a stage play, a musical, and a manga adaptation.

Developed by Capcom, the games combine elements of mystery, thriller, and adventure. They initially began as a trilogy of comedic legal thrillers created by Shu Takumi and released for Nintendo's Game Boy Advance in Japan between 2001 and 2004. They were ported to the Nintendo DS between 2005 and 2007 and released internationally.

The games follow the exploits of a passionate rookie defense attorney named Ryuuichi Naruhodou (Phoenix Wright in English versions) who fights for his clients in a courtroom setting loosely resembling that of the Japanese legal system, using investigative skills, cross-examinations, and evidence. Leaped out of my seat for the first time at this news. Almost nothing shocks me positively, but this was the first pleasant surprise I've had in a while!

If the characters look as good as in Apollo Justice then sure, I'll check it out, but if there's any revolting 3D stuff like in Dual Destinies, no thanks.

It will probably look like cut scenes from DD

90% JC Staff will do this
10% is a studio that is worse than JC Staff
Its pretty much guaranteed to be bones doing this since they do all the animated scenes for the game.

I just like everyone else here worries about how rushed this could be. Like they better not rush through multiple games if the episode count doesn't justify it.

I had no idea. Better be Bones.

not necessary, Rewrite OP was done by WhiteFox and anime is going to be by 8-bit(they still kept the director though)

While that's certainly true, an OP will always be... well, an OP. Bones has done the animated cut scenes for bother PL vs PW as well as PW:DD, for the sixth game? Well that's tbc. I seriously doubt it'd be JC.

3 seasons, 24-26 episodes. Each season for each game.

I hope to god the soundtrack is similar to the game but with real instruments of course. Or even the orchestra version!!!!

Is this for real? This is amazing! Ace Attorney deserves an anime and I'm glad it's finally getting one :D

If you want a rushed, pile of shit, sure.

1 cour per game only one can assume. I can't see anything but capcom premoting the original trilogy for more sales, and to premote the new AA6. I'd assume they're probably going for the horrible adaptation route.

How are we sure it will be an exact adaptation of the games though? That's why I asked in that way.

Huh, a mistake on my half. The thought of it being anime original content never crossed my mind.

they also did the cutscenes for PW vs Layton and those were freaking gorgeous but it seems that they already have a full schedule so it could also be an other studio. maybe JC Staff? well, the studio doesn't matter as much. a capable director is far more important for such a dialogue heavy series.

Yeah true enough. I haven't played PW vs Layton.
