I was happy to see shirobako so high up, but then felt really sad seeing mahouka, G-reco, and aldnoah all selling as well as it then sword art being above it. Oh well at least one good show sold well is all that matters. And hey bahamut did less terrible than i expected + nozaki still being profitable(again where the fuck is my 2nd season).
Now im curious how terrible parasyte is gonna sell
Could you be anymore of a damn hypocrite? Well at least all the naysayers prancing about G-Reco's v1 sales got BTFO this week though apparently it doesn't deserve to sell the same amount as your precious Shirobako apparently.

More like it's an Aniplex show [....usual Aniplex rant drivel]
You know I can comment on this stuff specifically to make a point. If you want to dismiss it out of hand and be all MAL about it than fine but it doesn't make the point go away. Furthermore the fact that I've been able to communicate and talk just fine with others in this thread so far tells me I'm not the problem here this time so....

thank you.
But doesnt this mean there are still 3-4 volumes remaining (including the next arc)?
Wow
A normal 2-cour show gets 9 Vol normally so I guess it would be the same too.
2 eps for 1st Vol and 3 eps for each subsequent volumes and we'll get 26 eps.
So, 2 volumes for Yokohama arc.
I want it to get more adaptations too but seeing how they handled S1 without all the monologues (since Tatsuya is a stoic character on the outside and how information-heavy the show is)... I'm not really sure now. :/
but the mahouka LNs are even more information heavy.
The monologues cutting is a problem though.
Looking at the sales of LN & anime, it will get a 2nd season. Lets just hope madhouse changes the director though.

For video games, if you license the game to FuRyu and a couple of other companies, it won't sell at all, the only thing that even sold well from FuRyu was The Legend of Legacy which was the hardest game I've played in 18 years.
I'm talking more the big shot companies like Square Enix and Bandai Namco that seem really good at making at least as much if not more money off the game and toy end of production committee deals as the anime makes in BD sales. SAO is actually one of those very examples. If you think the anime sales are good you should see what the games pull in. That aside cell phone games...from what I hear Square Enix's Mahouka game isn't doing too badly and between the boost that Cinderella Girls is likely to see this season and the fact that the game version of the Blu-Ray package is going to carry the load it's really starting to seem like by far the better end of the deal.
I've also heard the SAO games are actually good and maybe better than the anime and I'm surprised Mahouka even sold, the game looked bland. The G4U packs are just the same deal with the last ones that I bought, they are great for a few minutes but not worth paying $700+ for the bundle (at least for this series), if only Namco-Bandai could put the Idolm@ster Channel on the PS4 and offer these (even having them on the current PS3 one would be nice), I'd just get those to mess around with because they are reasonably priced digitally.

Honestly though lately I've been thinking after seeing some cold hard numbers and how different ends of the production committee make their money back and nowadays I really wonder all the more why people make such a big deal out of anime sales, especially the ones below the 10K mark. I mean it's just so utterly piecemeal compared to the kinds of numbers you see in LN's, Video Games, Manga, Music etc. If you ask me the BD distribution end of the production committee seems like the worst possible end of the deal and like the one I'd be least interested in having since you more or less have to do the most work for the weakest overall returns while the production committee soaks up the majority of the benefits and where the real money is in merchandising and other media and in most cases where it's an original source the original publisher benefits the most from the boost in profile of the series. If you're talking anime originals where the anime studio and it's overhead (if they have one) effectively owns the brand and gets to dictate how it's used then it's a whole different story, but that's not usually the case with most companies.

Every other season there will be that one quiet kind of laid back show that nobody expects much from but ends up being a top 5 seller. In summer it was Nozaki-Kun, in winter 2013 it was Love Live which has since gone on to become an unstoppable juggernaut, this season it looks like that show is Shirobako.
SAO, Aldnoah and Mahouka are all Aniplex series with tons off packaged extras that are based on based on popular light novel sources with huge obsessive fanbases (bread and butter starting point) or with mega popular with otaku staffers. To not expect them to be major forces in sales is like expect the sun not to rise in the morning. Gundam is Gundam and goes without saying. Not sure what there is to be upset about, I mean I used to be but I've just kind of accepted the reality of it at this point. Otaku gonna otaku and buy popular stuff with popular people involved.

Very good. The anime was a big hit all around.
More like it's an Aniplex show which pretty much always sell decently anyway and with an event ticket to meet fujoshi icons that star in the show. The fact that the DVD is the bigger seller should clue you in on who is supporting the anime end of things. The real test for that one will be the non-event ticketed packages because at this point it just looks like a kids show that successfully baited fujoshi into buying the disc for the event ticket even though I'm hardly convinced they'd be interested in a shonen action series. Pretty typical Aniplex tactics really.
Honestly though lately I've been thinking after seeing some cold hard numbers and how different ends of the production committee make their money back and nowadays I really wonder all the more why people make such a big deal out of anime sales, especially the ones below the 10K mark (Aka the vast majority of shows) which just don't really seem like they bare much special mention in terms of sales commentary. So it's good that a show you like sells well but it's not when a show you don't like sells well. Good to know. Also it's you weren't such a complete novice you'd know that stuff like Shirobako isn't even uncommon.
You're just putting words in mouth I'm just putting out the irony considering how you behaved a month ago.
