I don't know for some reason it kinds a look like a yuri too me

It's a romance between two girls, or so it became apparent to me just by the title. You don't just get a cover with two girls on a romance anything without it being shoujo ai to some extent.

Sorry, but have you even seen the film? It isn't a romance between two girls; in fact the two girls compete for the same boy. To suggest it's to any extent shoujo ai just because two girls are on the cover is ludicrous.

I saw the movie and it was okay. But I don't really need a prequel to it but still will watch it.

I just randomly found out that Japan has 200+ unique flavors of Kit Kat while the US only has the 1. The fuck is up with that, I want some strange flavored Kit Kats.

Although off topic, my friend brought back a wasabi flavored one. I thought the main taste would be wasabi but it was just green colored chocolate with a barely noticeable wasabi aroma. Didn't actually taste like wasabi, thank goodness. But yeah, Japan has a lot of different Kit Kat flavors...

Finally, something new from Shunji Iwai - and it's an anime and Hana & Alice no less! Really excited to see if his style of filmmaking carries over to anime, I'm not counting on it but I wouldn't put anything past him. So glad Yu Aoi and Anne Suzuki are reprising their roles, too! Hana & Alice is probably my second favourite Iwai film; Yu Aoi in particular was just superb.

Are there really no other Iwai fans here? He's a very celebrated director in Japan, who not only kick-started Yu Aoi's career, but also that of Takako Matsu and Tadanobu Asano, the latter of whom has made this way over to Hollywood with a recurring role in Marvel's Thor. It's a shame Iwai isn't doing as much these days.

So this is pretty much pointless (to me) to watch if I am not going to watch the live-action sequel later. Hmm probably won't watch this.

Prequel to a live action? No thanks, do not want.

Eh, looks okay I guess. This is an original film right, not based on any source material besides the live action?

Originally shot as a series of short films for the 30th anniversary of Kit Kat in Japan, it was later expanded into a feature film by Iwai and received theatrical release in Japan in 2004. It moved into theaters in other Asian territories later in 2004 and 2005, and into western film festivals, such as New York Asian Film Festival and Seattle International Film Festival.

There's a book as well but the film came first.
