I get the feeling this will have large amounts of bad CGI.
Eh, Ufotable is usually very good with it's handling of CGI, I very much doubt it will happen like that.
Also, this is being directed by the director of Paradox Spiral, so that's a ton of awesome right there.

The enemies are formed from a mysterious life form (oracle cells) that consumes and mimics things in it's surroundings, be it inorganic or not. The formed beasts are invulnerable to conventional weapons such as guns and bombs and posses extra-ordinary abilities. The people started calling them Aragami (dark gods) due to their godlike/divine looking disposition. Humans eventually figured out how to use oracle cells against them by making them "biased" to consuming the aragami. The weapons used are made on this principle as they devour and absorb power from these ''dark gods". Thus the name "God Eater"
It's not some edgy religious grim-dark series as the name would suggest to some, though the store is somewhat grim (human extinction and all that).

I really liked the psp games and all but lets be serious, video game adaptions tend to bomb HARD even if ufotable are behind it, its gonna be hard making a good story out of some monster hunter game..
Not all do, Gungrave was pretty damn amazing.
Not really. The Gungrave anime was a prequel to the game and the majority of its plot was not mentioned in the game at all besides the general background. As such, the Gungrave anime might as well had been an original anime. Most people who played the game and saw the anime say that the game's plot is horrible compare to the anime. The game's plot was covered by the last few episodes of the anime; yeah, the ENTIRE game's plot can be completed in like 3 episodes. Even then, the last few episodes are generally not as well received as the earlier ones.
I did watch God Eater Prologue, and I think it is good. I'm glad that it got an anime. I want to see this hot chick called Alisa Amiella in action
I'm sure that is the reason most people would watch this anime, to watch that half-dressed no bra skank jiggle her boobs around. I'm not particularly expecting much since the game didn't really have an amazing story to being with and things tend to get even worse when games get adaptations. Oh well, I'm sure I can stare at Alisa for at least 2-3 hours before I lose interest. And it is by Ufotable, I guess; they tend to produce high quality anime.
The imporant question is how they're gonna handle the MC? Are they gonna use the canon MC Yuu what's his name?

It's not a million seller, it sold a little over 700,000 copies over it's lifetime.
Between it and the God Eater burst version it is. Even if you only count one that's still respectably popular for a Bandai Namco game focused largely on the Japanese market. It's not like they're Square Enix with Final Fantasy or anything.
That makes sense, I was only counting one version. God Eater was overhyped to death especially at last years TGS along with the Vita version of Gundam Breaker, although I ended up liking Gundam Breaker over it.

Bandai Namco is totally playing the Aniplex game with this one. Go with the currently hot name brand recognition studio for your anime adaptation. Well I mean the game is like a million seller in Japan so it's not like it needs it there to boost it's profile but for the purposes of appealing to the West it's a pretty blatant move. Pretty much likely to be the only reason anybody would be remotely interested in it in English speaking communities.

Also the general tone of this thread is the least surprising thing ever with people being all conflicted about their raging hard on for ufoTABLE despite the realization that adaptations of video games with actual gameplay typically don't turn out all that great. I always love seeing MAL hold simultaneously contradictory opinions when trying to reconcile a person or company that has attained a certain level of idolatry with general trends and outcomes.
