Original Idol Anime 'Tsubu★Doll' Announced

A new original idol anime titled Tsubu★Doll has been announced. The five-episode OVA series will debut in Fall 2014. The series centers around 16 girls who want to fulfill their dreams of being on stage in the city of Sagamihara. Rather than being a story where the characters compete to be the "top idol," the girls will bring life and energy to the city through local idol activities. A number of events are planned surrounding the project to bring vitalization to Sagamihara, in addition to a drama CD and radio program.

With all the idol and mecha anime being announced and coming out lately it almost feels like the industry is trying to follow Sunrise's lead or something. Either that or a ton of producers all had similar ideas at the exact same time, but I don't remember Idol anime being this big a deal before Love Live came out (sure there were some but it wasn't a torrent of them) and likewise we were getting very little mecha wise for a while and then Unicorn comes out and boom suddenly the genre is all over the map again.

Yep the anime fanbase is horrible I know... still it's sad that they have to market towards losers with shows like this one in order to make any money. I don't blame them. I blame the people who buy it.

How dare those people not spend their money the way you want them to! Who the hell do they think they are spending it on things they like?

It's almost like if they have opinions and tastes on their own. How dare they?! They need to follow what this anonymous guy in the Internet tells them to like!

At least we are getting so many decent shows this season, few moe/idol pandering will just be in the sidelines(hopefully).

I will probably give it a try if the show somehow manages to portray the idols in more grounded, down to earth manner like Yamakan's idol show this winter (which i haven't gotten around to watch past eps 2. But i will, eventually), instead of another happy-go-lucky, escapism way that i've seen countless times already.
