According to Planète-Jeuness, it was announced at Chibi Japan Expo held in Paris that a producer John Chalopin and a French television company TF1 will remake a Japanese anime Mysterious Cities of Gold (Japanese title: Taiyou no Ko Esteban) into three new series, 26 episodes each. The show is scheduled for 2011 release. Mr. Chalopin didn't mention if any Japanese company will be involved in the remake.

It is in fact Planète-Jeunesse. Meaning Planet Youth.
Though I appreciate that the error probably comes from Anime!Anime! because they make that mistake also.

Holy shit. I LOVED this show when it first aired. It was epically awesome. Wow. So look forward to a remake. As long as it's not in French >.>
Aye, I would watch it even if it were done in the style of the really old B&W flicks, where there's no sound and a caption flashes onto the screen every few seconds.
