3rd Movie of Madoka Magica Due This Autumn Not Summer (Confirmed to be Oct 26th)

According to Nikkei Entertainment magazine, Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magica Movie 3: Hangyaku no Monogatari was announced to be premiered this autumn. The previous "this summer" announcement on Smart magazine has been withdrawn by the editor of the magazine. The article on Nikkei Entertainment also revealed that Kara no Kyoukai: Mirai Fukuin will be released within this year.

It is not really a trailer, but the morning news program Mezamashi Terebi from FujiTV picking up the new Madoka movie. There is even an interview with Yuuki Aoi !

That new visual is cool. The addition of a new character and the scenes of all the girls together in the PV has made me very curious about what Gen has in store for us for the finale.

At least this time it is for real. I remember when earlier a profile about a "new mahou shoujo" for the new movie was circulating around in internet, complete with even pics that looked like clippings from magazine. There were even details about how she would contradict what Homura believed after the ending of the TV series and how her power was mental attack. It all proved to be fabrications by some trolls but a lot of people did fall for the hoax.

Nagisa has Madoka's hairstyle and her wish that made her a Magical girl is unknown, inb4 conspiracy theories that's she's some reincarnation of Madoka.

The 2nd film covered episodes 9~12 of the anime. Therefore there were some new scenes and footage included in the film run. The 1st film covered episodes 1~8, so some scenes were cut out. The good thing with 2 films is the improved animation, artwork, voice acting, etc, and as I mentioned before some new scenes/footage.

I'd recommend that you still watch the 2 films if you are a fan of the series, but no you don't need to watch the 2 films before the 3rd film. The 3rd film is a sequel to the TV anime.
