3. Doraemon Birthday Special
4. Detective Conan
5. Yatterman

7. Gegege no Kitarou
8. Pokemon: Diamond & Pearl
9. Keroro Gunsou
10. Yes! Precure 5 GoGo!

There is a discussion board about the TV ratings in 2channel. Unlike the DVD sales ranking (,which has a convenient source of information like Oricon Ranking), we have to collect the rating data separately. So 2channel users divide up the works of searching for the data from newspapers, blogs, rating research companies etc. etc.

Otaku are only hard core fans. People that would watch say 5 anime shows a year wouldn't fall under that category.

They are popular ONLY among the anime fans. Those top 10 anime are targeting at general viewers. Here are the raw data of the ratings.
Sazaesan 19.2%
Macross F 1.7%
BLEACH 2.3%
Soul Eater 2.2%

Estimated population of Otaku 2,800,000 (2004)
Whole population of Japan 120,000,000

Now you see anime is still a niche market.

I don't see anything wrong with the art in those shows. I mean, Sazae-san is the longest running hand-drawn Anime so. I think thats worth something. The art is supposed to be simple.

By the way how did Soul Eater, Bleach and Macross F score so low? Aren't they supposed to be popular in Japan?

Me too, but I love Doraemon so I wait for the DVDs to be released here and buy them to my Godson. xD

The "classification" on the second post is a great addition, shows that we can still have faith in the world. ^__^
