| Art and animation are good. Soundtrack is good. Characters and story are not. It's an enjoyable enough half-hour each week. It just doesn't really go anywhere substantial. I don't think we're going to be talking about this much in a few months. |

| Feel like the entire show has been a huge nothing burger tbh. Like I don't get it and correct me if I'm wrong but to me this show feels like it was trying to be like Cowboy Bebop but with half the eps. How tf am I supposed to give a shit about any of these characters when the writing for the main plot hasn't moved since ep.1? It feels entirely aimless and to give each character a one off episode where they're the main focus also does not help. Bebop worked cause it had more time to spend with the cast before things kicked into overdrive. With 4 eps left, the crew of Lazarus still very much feel like absolute strangers. I cant imagine the show trying to flesh any of the characters out because we're at the final leg and even if the plot picks up from here, I couldn't imagine it being a smooth ride either. It'll probably feel rushed with some bullshit writing to try and stick the landing. idk this is one of the few shows where the "all style, no substance" can't outweigh the negatives it has going for it. |

| It's Shinichiro Watanabe's worst project for sure without a doubt, and it's not even close. Is he even involved with it? It feels like no, not at all. If he is, maybe it's time for him to retire. |

| @MichaelJackson Define “woke” Because it’s interesting you mentioned Edgerunners as a better alternative (which I agree). However, that show starts out with the MC’s mom dying because she didn’t have healthcare. That’s more “woke” than anything I’ve seen so far in this series. |
| Currently watching Episode 3 and it just doesn't feel like anime to me. I had the same issue with Ninja Kamui, I feel like I'm watching an American Series and not an Anime. Can't say if it's good or bad yet, just that I miss the charm of other Anime. |

It's okay an episode in just think people have too high expectations for this because of the comparisons to Cowboy Bebop
| @Genecos Yeah, looking back, I think those expectations were too high. Cowboy Bebop was a classic, something exceptional that’s hard to replicate these days. Sure, same director, but that doesn’t guarantee anything. Steven Spielberg, who was behind classics like Jaws and Hook was involved in Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, and holy shit that movie sucked. |

| I think the show started off interesting with some potential, but after it went on and on, I just felt empty and bored. I couldn't really care for these characters or why we were on this journey in the first place. If you want something to scratch the Cowboy Bebop itch, it's ok I guess, but I'd recommend watching Samurai Champloo or Space Dandy. |

Faye's reaction of disgust to the gay couple and the trans character known as Gren being presented as a fantasy radiation-exposed hermaphrodite of all things, besides he was being forced to take drugs instead of doing it by his own choice (which somehow tourists claim its a "good" representation of trans people) especially it can be considered homophobic too since its implying men can be only attracted to other men if they change of sex which its odd considering the show has two dudes in bed in other scene. |

| I can't give you a proper review for I have only watched like 3 episodes. But I guess you can tell my opinion because I only watched 3 episodes. |

| Lazarus is not even good or average, its awful. It's the worst Anime from 2025. Writing is terrible, animation is average for most episodes (remember the peak animation from ep 1 and 4?), dialogue makes no sense, most episodes were filler, tones change were abrupt especially during the first place, plot holes are eveywhere -in the same episode Axel fights and defeats 5 guard security in an elevator but somehow he has issues with some small robots later, wtf- and the ending is one of the worst Anime endings I've seen (doesn't help the cheap plot twists). It should been much less episodes and this mess could be much less annoying. Also a lot of filler episodes in this Anime, they are even are rushed and don't give character development unlike Cowboy Bebop and their background just make characters raises more questions than answers, just look at episode 6 for example, we don't know how Eleina can be a hacker if she wasn't raised with tecnology in the first place. She couldn't have access to a phone or computer or anything. It's worse since she can discover other hackers despite this obvious inconsisency. The episodic nature in Lazarus is even worse than Cowboy Bebop. Even without comparing to Cowboy Bebop, Lazarus's characters felt distant and annoying, the only who felt like a character with personality is Axel. The infamous scene in episode 3 who cause a lot of controversy is something very rarely happened in Anime (the closest forced way was Radiant and not even Zombieland Saga and Hoshiai no Sora made it forced despite similar topics) which I don't even know if Watanabe wrote the scene considering his previous works where they were presented in a casual way or just negative, but never forced. We'll never know since I read Watanabe didn't have full control of Lazarus especially after the second half, contrary to what people are saying in this thread. Considering Jill completely dissapears from the show after episode 3 and Douglas never mentioned what he said again makes me wonder if it was randomely written by other person and especially the next episode considering they crossdress a guy without much issue. Unnecessary and putting Cowboy Bebop as example of what they did in ep 3 is even worse. They are not even the same scene and context. |
