| I don't particularly like or dislike seeing it in fiction, but it tells you things about the character and can add to the show's ambiance. In real life: huge turnoff. I've already barely survived one deadly cancer, I don't need another. Very unhealthy, expensive habit, I'll just stick stick to my caffeine addiction. |

| @Zayvex I think thats arguable. In anime and movies, most smokers are some bad ass mafia boss or some cool ass guy. At worst its a tired adult smoking in a moody setting. In real life, Its Jimmy from work who smokes 3 packs a day and talks about quiting constantly but never even tries to do it. |

| Ginko probably. He was at least given a good reason for it. He smokes some kind of herb, they show it in one of the episodes. In RL I hate smoking and never once thought it looked cool. And most of the people who do it are chavs, and thus smoke terrible cheap cigarettes that stink. |

| Smoking is extremely unhealth irl, but I'm not personally against it or for it in anime. Some anime directors (like Makoto Shinkai) always have at least one character who smokes, and a lot of ppl involved in anime like Hayao Miyazaki smoke as well, so I can understand why it is included sometimes. As for my favorite smoking scene, it would probably be the one between Rey and Rock in Black Lagoon, but plenty of ppl have already mentioned that, so I'll go with the next best thing, which is my favorite scene of someone quitting smoking, from Kimagure Orange Road: |
