The official website of the RWBY: Hyousetsu Teikoku (RWBY: Ice Queendom) television anime revealed on Friday six additional cast members. The anime is scheduled to premiere on July 3 at 10:30 p.m. on Tokyo MX, followed by BS11 and MBS.

Cast
Glynda Goodwitch: Masumi Asano (Ikkitousen)
Peter Port: Souichi Abe (RPG Fudousan)
Penny Polendina: Megumi Han (Little Witch Academia)
Sun Wukong: Tomoaki Maeno (Gaikotsu Kishi-sama, Tadaima Isekai e Odekakechuu)
Taiyang Xiao Long: Kenyuu Horiuchi (Dorohedoro)
Roman Torchwick: Shinichiro Miki (Gintama)

Toshimasa Suzuki (Heroic Age) is helming the anime at Shaft, with chief director Kenjirou Okada (3-gatsu no Lion). Tow Ubukata (Psycho-Pass 2) is handling the series composition and script. Nobuhiro Sugiyama (Nisekoi) is designing the characters. Nobuko Toda (Isshuukan Friends.) and Kazuma Jinnouchi (Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045) are composing the music.

Rooster Teeth Productions released the 16-episode first season on their website between July and November in 2013. Crunchyroll began streaming the season on their catalog in August that year. The eighth and latest season premiered in November 2020 and ended with 14 episodes last March. A ninth season is currently in development, scheduled for a 2022 debut.

Shirow Miwa (Dogs: Bullets & Carnage) serialized a manga adaptation in Ultra Jump from November 2015 to February 2017. VIZ Media released the manga in English weekly in their Weekly Shounen Jump magazine and published the single volume in January 2018.

This could either be better than the latest seasons of RWBY or worse. There really is no way of telling.

Surely, it can't be worse than current RWBY can it?

Why'd you think it got outsourced to the Japanese creators in the first place ...

I think I stopped at the end of the season where they just got to a new school area or something, what season was that?

Watching the trailer made me feel like I'm watching an anime (NOT cartoon) version of Rooster Teeth's series, and correct me if I'm wrong that you don't need to know RWBY lore to watch this one coming next season (except the character names which form RWBY of course).

Other than Okada as supervisor, it's not looking promising in anyway.

This isn't looking good. It just got announced like last month, the trailer looks terrible considering just how stacked the staff is and now its releasing next season. My expectations are insanely low.
I don't see anything wrong with the trailer dude maybe you are just exaggerating.

If you're referring to the eastern-style one built on a bunch of mountains, that was Vale at the end of Volume 4. If you mean the more futuristic arctic area, that was Atlas at the end of Volume 6.

Apparently the first two episodes will recap the events of the first two volumes, which were 90% just lore dumps anyway. I would imagine you don't need to know anything going in.
Well I for one already loved Lain.

No, it can't. For SURE.

Even if (big if) the plot and go just as bonkers as V6 and beyond (character assassinations and all that), at least SHAFT production values are gonna deliver a objectively superior sakuga. Also, top seiyuus, like Saori Hayami.

Worst case ever, is gonna feel like a relatively derivative spin-off AU(ish?) of the first 3 volumes. Which were the best part of the franchise by far, in so many aspects (fights, build up, twists...).

Extra bonus if Pyrrah does survives and we dont have the absolute slog that was Jaunedice (or it;s resumed to one 2-3 min scene).
