THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
Tohru and Kyo's character chemistry is intense this episode. Kyo's feelings is very real and he is able to show how much he cares about her. Quite a touching scene imo.

The narratives were also very emotional about the Zodiacs. This episode really managed to capture Tohru's feeilngs towards all the Zodiacs and of course, Kyo himself.

omg i cannot believe this anime is ending soon !! i love this roller coaster sm

we finally got to see the curse break and everyone's reactions were so priceless. kyo breaking his rosary, symbolizing self acceptance. everyone feeling the sadness and loneliness of no longer having the bond but also feeling the happiness of being free from the bond really made me tear up.

we now also know the original story of the zodiac curse and what the cat really meant. which portrays the message by being the only one to "reject" eternity.

Tohru sprinting still kills me lol. What starts with the cat, ends with the cat. Great stuff.

We can see tohru put a hell of a lot of effort in trying to reconcile with Kyo, just to not be hated but she can't since every time she see's him its like a knife through her heart. Kyo shouldn't have said he's disappointed since that basically triggered her response, and it's just like tohru to not blame anyone but herself in the situation when it was mostly out of her control. The second kiss was unexpected and I kinda forgot what anime I was watching when they asked to hug - like hugs come after kissing in a relationship right?- but when the curse broke I felt that.

I find it quite weird that the cursed sohma's feel lonely when the curse was broken, I get that it was a sacred bond but after what akito did I wouldn't exactly feel the same, like logically if my parents were like akito I wouldn't care less if they bond between us broke but I guess its the fact that the curse was longstanding, so the feeling of that loneliness is foreign plus I haven't been in that situation so it's more of what I think and not what I would do if that makes sense.

The unspoken story was interesting, if a bit mundane at points, but did narratively explain a few loose ends like why the cat was targeted, I did find it to be quite the arbitrary explanation when they targeted the cat for being tricked, like it was his choice in the first place, it's basically blaming the victim at that point.

Ayame hugging mine was sweet, didn't see the confession coming at all, not as if it was hinted, not at all. The others also seem to be enjoying their curse broken lives, even if they feel at the lonely end because of it. Seems like ultimately shigure's plan succeeded, he freed the woman he loved from the clutches of a curse that stood to ruin her life. I'm still annoyed that akito got away with everything she did, every single illegal thing mind you, and I don't really find it fulfilling for her to fully redeem herself without serving time for it, but its fruits basket so I doubt that will happen.

Decent episode on the whole, time for yuki to find out his curse is broken and confess to Machi? I thought that was what this episode was going to be from the ending of the last one but hey ho better late than never! Did shigure always have those scars on his cheek?

Welp, Tohru running away from Kyo in an endless loop, but the Cat isn't simply gonna run away from her. The relationship chemistry between each other is ripping at the seams of the roles of their past failures, but their reconciliation is just as heartwarming. Kyo has done his part, and Tohru now has to reciprocate that she can stand together with the Cat. It's nice to see all the loops that both wretched souls have been subjected to from the very beginning, finally become one.

Tohru's pep talk with the sane Akito, and the narrative of the Zodiac story from scratch to match and line up with the entire Fruits Basket story, it all has become full circle. The God's unyielding foocus on the Cat to betray the other 12 animals, if we line up with all the Soma characters, Kyo is essentially the rejected one, but yet the most liberal one. But snce they were bonded, the Banquet will keep going on and on for as long as it did.

Once the bonds are all broken, everyone is back to being lonely again. Ayame could now profess his love to Mine, Rin formally love Hatsuharu, and the rest feeling the effects of freedom and hope.

They fought the good fight, and finished the race.

Man... Tohru... How can be you be so adorable? I just adore her so much. She's a literal goddess in this show. Kyo and Tohru's had their moment as well. I love them so much. They look so cute with each other. And, then that kiss. :')

The way the story of the zodiacs was told at the end made me emotional. And, now I feel bad for the way things were and the way things are now. Since Akito has given up on everything now and lets everyone go their own paths, everyone can live their own life. They're finally free from all the bonds they were carrying all along. Amazing episode. No words can describe how happy I was during this episode. Tears were shed as well.

This episode was amazing we finally get the original promise full story. The curse-breaking was emotional as I remembered reading from the manga.
Kyo and Tohru finally got to talk about their feelings and the second kiss happened and their hug scene looked incredibly animated wow.
The original promise started out as a promise between the god and his friends the animals but it slowly became a curse.

We got a curse-breaking scene for every character left that needs the curse break except for Yuki, looks like they are pushing him to the next episode.

Amazing ep. Great to see Tohru and Kyo together at last, and the bonds are now broken. To be honest, it already felt like the last ep, wonder what the final 2 eps will look like.

That bit where Kyo said that he might be invincible too now with Tohru there, that got me good... All these onions

I'm not expect such a religious experience from this anime.

Anyway, I forget how the curse work, what if zodiac of different gender hug each other, will they both turn into animal? If yes, then why Ox is able to have sex with Horse?

Another question, is the doctor ever turn into a Dragon? Did we see it?

One of the best episodes so far, it finally showed what happened for the cat to be outcasted by the zodiacs ++ seeing their bonds being broken just made broke my heart, seeing them happy because their curse was broken but learning the meaning of loneliness just made me sad. This episode was such a ride, now I have to wait another week for the next episode :’D

Now we know the true story of the original zodiac. A very sad story with everyone shunning the cat for its words they perceived as betrayal. The cat being an outcast and a pariah compared to the other zodiac members makes perfect sense with the context of that story. The other members viewed the cat saying he wanted the god to not just be with them but with everyone as the ultimate disrespect towards their bond. Which we also see how that happened with the god having them all drink to they'll be bonded forever. A very important story for us to hear before this is all over. It took a long, long time but the cats words came true. God has come down from their lonely hill and is among the humans now.

Coinciding directly with Akito breaking the curse for everyone. She released their bonds! They're all free!!!! Even typing those words I start to cry. Its been a long road but everyone's free now. Goodbyes make us lonely but they open up to new beginnings. Its hard but nothing lasts forever, goodbyes will come whether we want them to nor not. I'm glad that Akito has let go of those bonds she once held more dear than anything. Not holding everyone down anymore but letting them choose their own paths. Its a big character moment for her. I'm glad she did and that she's also staying friends with Tohru. They've both hurt each other but now they can all heal.

Finally seeing the second kiss between Kyo and Tohru animated had my heart soaring. Tohru desperately trying to hold back her sadness instead trying to just smile the next time she saw Kyo. But that's not what she has to do for Kyo. They love each other and that love makes them invincible. That's a great line that Kyo says. I'm so happy they can be together now. The two of them have been through the most and it's made this moment worthwhile. Them hugging right as Akito broke the curse. Tears. Kyo realizing the curse has been broken and ripping off his bead bracelet. Waterfall tears. I cried just as Tohru did, just bawling. Its a beautiful moment. They're finally free. They're finally free. That feels so good to say.

No members of the zodiac don't transform if they hug each other. Hence why Haru and Isuzu could be together and why Kagura clung to Kyo earlier on

Hatori didn't turn into an actual dragon just a sea horse

Kyo x Tohru moment was too damn beautiful, the kiss was really sweet. Finally Kyo's curse broke and following that everyone else's curse also broke. We finally learned the true backstory of the Zodiacs which is nice. The last half of this episode was really emotional. I teared up at some point, this episode was simply beautiful.

Two of the opposite gender can hug if they’re both zodiac.

I most definitely cried when I read the manga years ago and guess what, I had tears in my eyes throughout the episode again. Beautiful episode. Only two more episodes to go.

thoughts on the uncanny resemblance between god and akito’s father? it would make a lot of sense if he was the god before her because of how weak his health was, much like akito, however, during the somas summer get away, i believe it was either yuki or haru that mentioned another child can’t be possessed by a zodiac spirit as long as the current spirit is still alive, so it wouldn’t make much sense for akira and akito to both be god at the same time. yes, he dies shortly after but still. thoughts anyone??

Great episode, I think some things were cut weirdly though. Telling Gods story before showing all the curses broken was weird. Also where is Yuki’s curse breaking?

There’s not a lot of stuff to be adapted in the 2 episodes left. I wonder how that’ll work.

So we finally see the origins of the curse, Kyo-Tohru is a thing, and the curse is gone. Man, almost everything is sorted out. We did get absolutely zero Yuki-Machi this episode, despite how last week's episode ended. Hopefully they rectify that next week.

abt akito though, i don't know how i feel abt her. what she did will always be unforgivable but it's just i don't have the same hate for her and i'm here for the character development but still i just can't like her.whenver i remember what she did to the zodiacs, it just becomes harder to like her.

Wow, this was powerful! Especially the second half there, what a ride that was.

It turns out that the Cat was misunderstood this whole time, I'm not quite sure how I feel about that at the moment. I'll probably have to re-watch this episode to make an opinion out of that, is the best I can say right now. Kyo ripping out the safety charm wristband got a "Yay!" from me though.

Curse breaking and seeing the reactions of some of the members was very touching honestly. Yuki's brother's segment in particular hit me the most, it looked like it was coming for a long time but kept aside due to possible complications and whatnot. Isuzu's segment and Akito pulling Tohru into a hug in the end there was really nice too.

For a second, I thought Kamiya Hiroshi-san would get just the one line before the ED by the way, lmao. Great to have his monologue to see us through to the end of the episode!

First half was seriously adorable, meanwhile. Tohru's sprint away from Kyo's sight will go down as a classic, lol. Kyo finally facing it and the two sharing their "invincible" love was fantastic to watch! It's also really nice that the first person the two met after the incident is Kazuma-san. Nothing out of the blue there but just heartwarming, you know.

Feels like the conclusion is near now and that's saddening but here's to hoping for a great finale!

Ahhh that "goodbye" montage with the curses breaking was so emotional! I liked how it showed Kagura looking more grown up (we haven't seen much of her in a while) I feel like it was symbolic of her moving on from her little girl persona. I also like how they left Shigure to the end, it's a reminder of how hard it is for Akito to let go of him in particular. (Even if she won't have to, really, but she doesn't know that.) Can't wait for the next!!!

Ahhh only 2 weeks of Fruits Basket is left, I really don't want it to end. It was a beautiful episode. Loved the scene where Kyo and Tohru kissed, I'm so happy for them. I saw the news of Kamiya Hiroshi voicing the god so I thought would have more dialogue but he only spoke at the post credits scene lol. Oh well, it was an amazing episode nevertheless.

What an emotional episode and we finally got the backstory to the zodiac curse/bond. I think it's very interesting to think that if the cat just kept their opinions to themselves, they would probably be the favorite in God's eyes. If I'm not mistaken, Yuki is the only curse that hasn't broken yet, so I'm looking forward to seeing that hopefully next week. I'm also excited to see Yuki's confession to Machi.

This was the best episode of the series imo. Ayame's confession was so sweet. Tohru running away in the beginning was hilarious. Kyo's confession and Tohru's reply were so beautiful.
But for me, the best part of this episode was the story of the original promise. God's sayonara in the end was way too emotional.

I am still confused about the reason behind the curse-breaking. Did something trigger it? Or was it originally supposed to break when they all assemble together again?

It was explained in the shigure /Rin talk in ep 6
Basically the bonds have been weakening over time and will eventually break (which also explains why the forms of the zodiacs are smaller like hatori being seahorse instead of a dragon ~~that's mentioned in the manga)..

Now there are triggers that can speed it up like forming bonds outside of the curse for example the zodiacs with tohru or even hiro/his sister

And finally Akito's change and her letting them go was also a big trigger in it breaking this ep
