I was wondering if the quality was going to be the same as episode one. Yep! This anime is going perfect so far! I am glad I chose to watch it.
Just a question; why did fushi's eyes turned purple for a sec after eating then turned back to green?

Even if it gained human form, it still acts like an animal lol. I do feel sorry for March, mainly since the village follows a tradition. Which in most cases, they'd want to meet, no matter if they find it right or wrong, it's the belief they have to go through with it. I'm no expert of course, never will be, but it's sad to see of course. But it was cute for her to now basically 'have her own dog' lol.

Good episode. The VA for March is a perfect fit. Kind of ended on a weird point 2/3's into chapter 3 but whatever.

There's also no point in complaining about OP visuals honestly. It's well known that they often contain spoilers, if you're anime only, you watch at your own discretion. If the visuals are bad, idrc, the actual song is what matters to me more and it sounds amazing.

It's because he smiled at March, the same way as the boy would have done, or at least that's how i see it. I actually never realised the change myself in the manga, but it does happen.

The animation of the boy's revival was god tier quality! This episode actually featured some of my favourite moments from the manga, like March & the boy's interactions and when she decides she's going to pretend to be his mother. I absolutely love bonds this kind of bond, where it's deeper than friendship but something more emotive than family.

From the OP I'm a little bit concerned that this is gonna be very rushed because I spotted characters that appear WAAAAAY later in the manga. I really hope they don't rush this cause they'll only be ruining a fantastic story

It's probably gonna be only 1 opening for the entire season, so it's not rushed, and the studio probably already finished animating this (just a guess)

You know what, I thought something very similar. It really is.

This episode was good, but not as impressive as the first one. Then again, it would be hard to keep that up. I hope we get more characters to join him and the little girl.

The op song is pretty catchy. Another episode with sublime soundtracks and amazing animation. March is so goddamn cute. I'd definitely like to see more of March. Her motherly personality is just adorable.

Predictability has very less to do with the experience. That is how many shows can be watched more than once, but the amazement only rises.

Eh. Maybe? I'm just having trouble feeling invested when I know exactly what's going to happen. It's not the same as rewatching an anime imo because if I'm rewatching that means I already enjoyed it to begin with.

I'm not saying it's a bad anime, I'm just having trouble getting as exited about is as everyone else.

Doesn't hit quite as hard as Episode 1 but from the looks of it, it isn't supposed to. It's supposed to expand the world this show and show the side characters. I love the side characters here, it's only Episode 2 but the side characters feel so lively and it makes us feel like the world feels lived, especially with the society of March's village and their tradition.

Not speaking for anyone else but I loved this episode, 5/5 once again, the MC is hilariously bland but I think it's on purpose because it's a foreign entity who doesn't know anything about the world, kinda speaks to the great writing here.

Some thoughts and observations:

The boy had wanted to try fruit, and "it" gets to eat fruit for him (I think this is why the animators had his eyes turn back to the boy's for a second - to show that his wish had been fulfilled).

And March gets to act as the orb's mother too.

Also, the word for "behave" in japanese is "otonashiku", which is what March is told to do throughout the episode, contains the word for adult, "otona"

I also love March's escape scene - and how the feather falling on the path represents her path to freedom.

The regeneration scene was SO good too. As someone who adores the manga, I am so happy with this adaptation. Brain's Base is doing a wonderful job so far!

One thing though, opening is a bop but it contains way too many spoilers. Like, literal spoiler scenes shown. Not just hints. Just a heads up for any new fans.

Solid episode, but I feel like there were a few things that didn't work in it that could be improved.

For one, did it feel like the show was telling rather than showing a lot of its theming, especially during the beginning parts with March's introduction, to anyone else? I get that March's character is meant to not have much of a filter and says what's on her mind, but it felt like the anime was trying to fill in the gaps where it could've let the animation breathe and explain it wordlessly.

For two, as much as I love Utada Hikaru's work, both the song and the animation content felt very unfitting for the show overall. Not only was the actual animation just stills and scenes from the show copied and pasted in (a decision I attribute to limited resources due to the COVID delay), but the song didn't really have the vibe I was expecting for this type of show - felt very modern and transient, rather than portentous and melancholic, which would have fit the show's atmosphere a bit better. The ED is great, and a good example of what I'm talking about with the shot composition and song construction fitting the show.

For three, is the animation and pacing throwing anyone else off a bit? Again, resource management and delays, and the vivid detail on the gore and dirtier sequences helps a lot with the framing, but it felt like March and some of the side characters came from a bog-standard seasonal show, and the goofier tone of some of the scenes didn't contrast hard enough with the emotional gravitas the serious scenes had.

Starting to have a few question marks for this adaptation, but it's still very strong in its bones, and episode 3 should help rectify some of my worries.

Agree on all points.

Terrible OP (but good ED)
Lack of "show, don't tell" approach.
Goofy characters.
Quite mediocre animation (except "resurrection" scene).
Already too much bathos.
Partly rushed and partly boringly long and repetitive.

Overall it is not bad (still) tho.
So fingers crossed.

Hope to see more blood and gore and explorations.

The potential in this anime is outstanding with only two episodes. In fact, if it continues this way and keeps the quality consistent, I wouldn't be surprised if this went in my top 10, and maybe even got anime of the year! While I didn't like this episode as much as the masterpiece that is episode 1, I certainly enjoyed it.

The adaptation is spot on so far, but it's going 1-1 and a half chapters per episode, I have no idea how they're gonna fit the whole Janada Island arc in 20 episodes since it ends at chapter 54.
I'm afraid they're gonna cut a lot of stuff.

Looks like MC has come across the perfect teacher, a wanna be mother and a being that kinda needs one.
Also I'm guessing whatever that beast of a thing that one shot him, is whatever they sacrifice to, wonder if MC will have a chance to pay back the favour.

So the orb that has taken a human form has made its way to the southern part of the world where there is a huge forest after dying several times. The episode then shifts towards this village where we meet March who can't wait to be a grown up. Unfortunately, she was chosen to be the human sacrifice for the village which has become a major tradition. She tries to run away, but she eventually comes across its corpse which happens to come back to life. Even though it looks human, it behaves like an animal due to its past experience as a wolf.

Not necessarily the same emotional tone or impact as episode 1 but then again I’m not expecting that level of storytelling and emotional rollercoaster every week. Good episode, curious where this meeting between March and Sphere-kun takes us. OP song was good, visuals were not the best but I dont really rate anime according to how good their op/ed are so who cares really.

This dynamic of one character who speaks and one that doesn't reminds me of Dororo.

Great episode! Loving this slow buildup here, and can’t wait to see where it’s taking us.

Also, March is too freakin’ adorable! “Shouganai nee, mama ja nai” - sweet stuff, this.

Good lord, that regeneration scene though. Staff nailed it!

Op & ED certainly have a unique style and I really appreciate that.

Man this show is gonna be so good. So far loving the direction they are going with orb man. I never thought about it much but it makes sense that he would just die repeated since his only experiences are from being a wolf and having food given to him. Plus a wolf would just piss whenever as long as it was outside. It's gonna be really interesting seeing how he transitions from wolf man to normal human behavior and speech. Also we might have a permanent travel partner idk. It's kinda messed up what might happen to the other kids in the village tho if she gets away. No winners in this situation.

Simply beautiful. The whole sequence of Fushi growing back every part of his body was brilliant, yet creepy in a way.

The op is alright, no need to get ballistic over it, to anime onlies I say watch it.

Like they can go over the head of people who don't know the context about it (Like Aot ops). And its a feast for those who likes to theorize. Anime reactors in yoitibe like stuff like these.

Watch it and and come up with crazy theories and who knows you might be right.

People are focused on the plot when the plot isn't what the show wants you to focus on as much as it wants you to follow along March's character. I was blown away by how they brought this child to life, even down to the crying. She doesn't just wail out in tears, when she had that nightmare full of guilt her she was bawling her eyes out but restraining from making a sound, when she was having her tantrum fighting for the pear fruit she let out an ugly facial expression with a cry, etc etc. Thats insane but minute detail all to bring out this character. People need to enjoy the mystery and the journey, not every story has to be some grandiose complex multi-universe upside down world plotline to be compelling.
