I thought of this forum because I have heard people say that The Seven Deadly Sins fanbase was bad but I haven't seen them do anything at all. I have seen more toxic Seven Deadly Sins haters than I have fans so I don't get why the fandom has a bad reputation. So is there a fandom like that for you? Were you hear bad things about them but you haven't seen them do anything. Edit: In regards to the Jojo fanbase. They are just annoying because of the over used memes but they aren't toxic. I have a saying that goes like this: "Every toxic fanbase is cancerous but every cancerous fanbase is not toxic" and the Jojo fanbase is definitely cancerous but not toxic. |

Before I got into anime I was told to watch SAO to start out, but also to stay away from the fanbase as it was one of the most toxic. Dont ask me where I heard it from as it was a while ago, but not only did SAO become my favorite anime of all time, the community (at least from what I've interacted with) has been the nicest, 2nd most funny (after JJBA community), and all around most wholesome community I've interacted with. I know must people dont like SAO, and I respect that, but I feel like most people because they hate the series they also hate the fanbase with it |

I guess we were considered horrible people about 6 years ago. I am guilty of being a horrible TM fan :( well around the time Fate/Apoc was airing, there were a lot of people in reddit discussions saying stuff like “I only watched Apoc bc of that trap” or “I don’t even know what fate is I’m just watching this” and me and about 20 other tm fans would give them a list of the series to watch and some games (the ones you need to watch and play at the very least) and they all responded saying shit like “I don’t care abt shit like that” or “I’m watching for Astolphophpho” (they actually spelled Astolfo like that) And we got super pissed. Some of my friends made about 5 posts(?) calling them a faker and who tf likes Astolfo? Hes literally irrelevant and completely useless, he’ll probably never get a saber ver. And is only good for farming ;-; typing this out,,,, yeah we were harsh but I’m still mad at it but I’ll let go ig... uh WE AREN’T LIKE THIS ANYMORE HAHA. I guess it was more common around the time zero aired :) don’t think lowly of us bc we spend a lot of time and money on TYPE-MOON works :’) |

I don't think Jojo fans tend to be abusive/mean toxic as much as overbearing. If you're associating toxic behavior with acting like a dick to people for whatever reason, then no, never seen anything like that out of the Jojo fandom. If you're willing to consider jamming their series down your throat at literally any opportunity to the point where I know people who have legit started making up bullshit reasons about why they don't want to watch Jojo just to get Jojo fans in our server off their back about trying to get them to watch/read it, then yes, Jojo fans are toxic as fuck in that regard. How willing they are to force their injokes and their series onto literally anybody within earshot is incredibly inconsiderate and annoying and the Jojo fanbase are pretty much the absolute worst in that regard, so much so that any other fanbase is fighting for second place. That's probably why a lot of people - myself included - consider the Jojo fandom toxic. It's not as directly toxic as some stuff like the BnHA fanbase will display regularly, but it comes off as incredibly overbearing, annoying, and inconsiderate to other people. If you're actively and knowingly annoying people just to get them to watch your series - as is a *very* common tendency within the Jojo fanbase - then you're being a dick still. It's like these people who go door to door to share the word of the lord, except instead of religion it's fucking Jojo. That is supremely annoying. -------- Real shit, though? Legend of the Galactic Heroes. No anime is associated with elitism and dickishness more than LotGH, and over a half decade of being here the only time I've seen LotGH fans being dicks were people using pretty obvious troll accounts and steeping themselves in that aesthetic just to be more provocative. And it's not like you need to go out of your way to find LotGH fans - it's in the top 10 series in the site by mean score and it's a pretty common occurrence on favorites lists here. It's like a boogeyman, kind of, the LotGH fan who will thumb his nose at you. It's just not a very common occurrence, and it's probably more rooted in how popular that show tends to be with the critical crowd more than any actual truly elitist behavior preceding it. "A lot of people who like this show talk shit about an anime I really like because they think it's stupid and unintelligent and they prefer works that go along those lines. Fucking elitists." |

I feel that way about many fanbases that people say are toxic, but mainly Jojo fans and MHA fans. From what I've seen, they're nothing more than cringy and mildly annoying. I've never seen their supposed "toxic" behavior. Though I'm not really a part of the MHA fanbase, and the most I've seen of them is in the comments of fanfiction I used to read and the occasional annoying twitter fangirl/fanboy, so I'm not as familiar with them as I am with Jojo fans. |

As somebody mentioned above me: Legend of the Galactic Heroes. I am a huge fan of the series, and have been apart of the community of it for a few years, and I've never really witnessed the toxic, elitism that so many others scold the fanbase for. I usually consider toxic fanbases to be fans of shows who'd support an ultra flawed show to their grave, and be completely unwilling to admit to a series' flaws. I understand that every show under the sun has flaws, but, some shows require a more magnifying-observation of them to really see the flaws they possess-- whereas a lot of fanbases will defend shows that're blatantly ugly, both skin deep and on the surface. Also, to answer your question as the inverse, I think the Neon Genesis fanbase is one of the worst fanbases, and that both applies to Anime and media in general. |

Jojo fandom of course. I know there are some people who will say "All they do is make Jojo References which you cant even understand if you haven't watched Jojo" But everyone should understand there's a difference in Fandom being Annoying and a Fandom being toxic. I mean I've seen some toxic JoJo 'fans' but considering the stuff they complain about I sometimes wonder if they really even like the show. And they're all on the shithole called Twitter where 90% of the population is toxic so lol When it comes to the JoJo fanbase I feel like it's mainly just spamming memes, which I think is mostly done in good faith (even if they tend to sometimes go a bit overboard). Then there's also the whole thing of recommending JoJo to literally everyone, but again I think that's because JoJo fans are so passionate about JoJo that they really want to share it with others, so I wouldn't call it toxic. Ofc telling someone to watch JoJo a million times even if they clearly aren't interested is another story. But every fandom has it's bad apples, and overall I think that the JoJo fandom isn't as toxic as some people make it out to be. I might be biased but to me they're just very, VERY passionate about JoJo. |

1. The OP repeating "toxic haters" is pointless. Haters are toxic by definition. 2. Everybody here is ignoring the timeline - fandoms are at their worst when the anime is airing or released on theatres. Between releases they are way more quiet and chill. You should've paid attention for example when the KnY movie was making big big money - 40% of the posts on r/anime were like "Infinity train will beat Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi!", "Any minute now!", "It borked the record for IMAX theatres!", "It borked the record for regular theatres!", "Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi was beaten!", "It feels pretty bad to be a Ghibli fan right now, isn't it?"...in the context that Ghibli fans will be the last to care about box office. Is that chill behaviour? And how about the recent spur of topics about SnK s4 gaining on FMA:B? Is that chill too? Naaah, every big fandom can become toxic especially if there is some event to be exited about. Hype does this to people. |

AoT, HxH and FMAB fanbase, all they do is make bots to increase their show ratings and trash others. AoT fanbase even went further ahead and start trashing their own show, so that others do not bother to watch their show. Now closing the sarcastic block, Monogatari, JJBA, Haikyuu, and MHA except their shippers(constitutes 10% of female fans) are pretty cool fanbase. |
