So a few years back, maybe 2 or 3, I recorded my watched anime here on this site. I plowed through an entire afternoon of just going through a list of all anime to pick out the ones ive watched, and that added with the ones i added later cos i missed them, should be just a bit short of three hundred. For a while since, I kept on updating my MAL as I completed anime, but sometime last year I kind of stopped using MAL and my list fell behind by a lot. Ive still been watching anime ofc, but I havent been updating my list. Is it even worth it to update it after all this time? I have to make about a hundred entries or something and I kind of dont have records of the non seasonal anime ive watched since then. Going through all anime ever made for a second time seems like such a major pain in the ass lol. Also, what are your experiences on this? Is your anime list even up to date or are you too lazy to update it as I am now? I do kind of like having an anime list cos there have been times when I just felt like going through my entire list for some reason lol. Getting the list together is what i kind of find to be quite troublesome. |

Why don't you just update it after every anime you watch? why wait till you've watched so much before you update it? |

Not sure what you mean by "going through all anime ever made for a second time seems like such a major pain in the ass". Is it like rewatching it to get a proper completion or browsing anime is a drag for you? |

Hmmm... well ye, i guess i dont have to rush cos im sure that even now, there are still a couple of anime ive seen way back that I still havent added to my list lol. Majority of what Ive watched since are seasonal anime anyway so adding them shouldnt be that hard. Just need to look back on some seasonal charts. |

My anime list is up to date. Before coming to the forums, tracking the anime I watched was the sole reason why I joined MAL... After updating your list you could check up the stats, or MAL graphs, etc. So, it's worth it. Don't update your list if you don't want to. Either way is fine... |

Update it. Update it definitely. It's fun to look at the list of the animes that you've watched and go "haha... i remember this..." Trust me, you'll recognize that feeling once you feel it. |

Obviously it will take longer than you would like, but it is better that you do it now before continuing to fill with animes to update. You would have done it at the end of each one, I with less than 10 for the maintenance I felt very confused. |

When I made my first 200+ entries, I did so by loooking at a list of all anime ever made. Since I cant rly remember all of the non seasonal anime ive watchedsince I pseudo-quit MAL, I would have to look at a list of all anime if I want to add those to my list ASAP |

Hmm I think you don't have to rush it. Like, you would stumble upon anime that you've finished bit by bit. I can't believe I haven't added Black butler despite having a good memory of what it is about, added it today. Just can't specify the date which isn't a concern for me. |

When MAL was down I finished about 20 it so shows and so I wouldn’t forget so I could add to MAL later, I would write down the show and the score I get it deserved and when MAL fixed its shit or when I had time then I would update. That’s just me tho, as I really like having a place that allows me to track, in depth, the shows I’ve watched. |

I know the pain of adding a ton of anime at once, but once you do it...it will be worth it. I'm just addicted to keeping my list nice and clean, so I just update it once I finish a show. |

Of course it is. When you forget a show and want to watch it, you can search it. Or if you just watch a nice scene from somewhere else, you can add it to PTW. Especially when you streaming. So you dont have to watch it again in the future. Besides, organizing your profile is the one of the coolest thing to do. |

I would just start by adding what you can remember (like the seasonals you watched you mentioned) and anything else is just a loss until you remember. My list is complete (Pretty sure at least) but I had my own personal list before coming onto MAL so it was easy to port all the entries in. It wasn't complete though. There were a handful of anime that I forgot and ended up not remembering until later. Whether by random or just something triggered the memory. For example, I missed adding "Air Master" to my list. I completely forgot it. Browsing here one day though, I saw a thread talking about "Air Gear" and it triggered my memory. I completely forgot the story and what not though, so I couldn't add it to my list + rate it fairly, so I ended up rewatching it. So, I think my list is complete but it's possible there's a handful of anime I've forgotten and haven't remembered. Pretty sure there isn't though. |

Yes it is, it's good to have a log of what you watched, and something I really like doing. I haven't watched much before I joined so I logged everything I watched, but if you started watching a long time before joining it can be hard to remember everything. The "watching" list also helps me so I don't forget what episode I'm on |

Well, I watched anime for 2 years before joining. I ultimately came here out of necessity. I was getting to the point where I'd watched enough anime that it was becoming hard to remember the status of everything in my collection. I would've made my own database, but I didn't have time for that. Fortunately, as a hoarder, I still had the anime themselves stored on my PC, so cataloging them wasn't too hard. Now I keep it up. I always come back here to log updates frequently, and I keep semi-frequent backups so that I won't have to start from scratch if MAL ever goes away. The more anime you watch, the more important keeping a list becomes. It helps a great deal with following up on sequels and picking out worthy shows for re-watching after some time has passed. It also helps with discovering new shows based on enjoyment of similar shows. While I maintain that I could do it better myself, MAL is a completely adequate solution with a minimal time investment. (unless you get drawn into the forums and waste all that time anyway writing posts like this) Watching 11 Completed 664 On-Hold 17 Dropped 4 Plan to Watch 711 I do this for myself, not for the bragging rights. With stats like this, without a list I'd legitimately forget what I've already seen and what I still want to see. P.S. Posts: 4572 Surely I could've watched a couple hundred episodes more if I could just stay off the forums. |

Yeah, it is. Why? Let me tell you what I did when MAL was down. I wrote down all my chapters/episodes comments on my notepad and when MAL came back I had to go through every single chapter/episode and copy paste my comments, that took many many many hours. I do it because I feel "proud" to see my list, don't ask me why. |

Well, it's primarly a listing website but if you don't feel like it... then don't? I don't really understand what's your question there. If you really cared about your list in the first place then you'd have it up to date. On the other hand if you think it's a problem, it will only keep getting bigger as you watch anime. So you might as well grit your teeth and adress it now. |

Ok, I've somewhat came to a conclusion. I think I'll go and list my seasonal tommorow, or some time next week. I think Im gonna give up on rating the shows Ive watched cos admittedly, I have no set parameters at all. Most of them are out of enjoyment purely but there are some where I used more objective approaches, or some where I rly like one part but not the other parts and it's difficult to rate those. I saw some people asking why I even quit and I was too lazy to to elaborate on my original post lol. I've already been on and off before then but the final nail in the coffin was when my PC broke. MAL on mobile is just frustrating lol. My browser wont accept google+ and that's what my account is binded to. MAL did go down for a while and I knew bcos this is a useful website still, even without all the stuff that comes with having an account. Well, an7yway, some responses to come posts that I wanted to respond to Digitizer said: Update it. Update it definitely. Ye even in my initial listing where I spent like an entire afternoon just getting my list together. Had no initial list btw so it was harder. But ye, I missed more than a few which I somehow remembered later and Im not even confident that I got everything lol. Specially the ones I watched way back when I still watched cable TV. They had anime dubbed in my native tongue lol. Akerakai said: You watched around 100 anime in 9 monthes uff Anw do whatever you like but imo you should update it Eh i mean considering that I watch 15+ each season in general(though there are shit seasons maybe around once a year where I end up with a one digit number.) I think 100 is a good estimate since I watch more than just seasonals. The "watching" list also helps me so I don't forget what episode I'm on Well it definitely has come in handy in some cases. I actually made a MAL account way before I even first started listing shit. At that point I had already watched quite a lot of anime, and it was intimidating to even make a list at that point so... I let it build up even further, until i one day finally got off my ass and decided to fucking do it lol. Yes, it was difficultfirst world problems REEEEEEE(I wish lol. 3rd world country), and I feel like Im going through the same thing all over again lol. Procastination at its finest. I dont find it difficult to keep track of what episode im in though. Mostly due to me watching anime as they come out. It's only rly a hassle when I get like no internet for a month or something and then i have to catch up stuff like this leads to me dropping shows lol For marathons, i usually download episodes as i watch them. Always found updating my list as I watch episodes to be a major hassle lol. cant be bothered. I update every time i finish the last episode of a show, or at least that's what I used to do lol. |

Well, the prime objective of this site was to make ur own anime list so that u can keep track of ur completed/watched anime. So yeah, its worth it. But there is no reason to force urself to add all pending anime in just one day. Just browse the site regularly like always and whenever u encounter an anime u have watched, just add it to ur list. I did the same. I had watched 50+ anime before making account on this site. So it took me more than one week to complete my list. |

Have you heard of Realm of the Mad God? It's without a doubt the best flash game in existence. I was specifically talking about single player games. I prefer recent engines for multiplayers, or maybe thats just bcos my favorite flas games dont rly have the option for multiplayer play nor are they even balanced for multiplayer play cos certain classes are just going to mop the floor with others if used in PVP. Thinking of Sonny 2 specifically. Albeit a bit meh, there is a multiplayer function but the classes are just so unbalanced for PVP to begin with and it wasnt specifically made for PVP so that's acceptable. The PVP is just an added feature which is far from the main attraction of the game anyway. |

no. not for me. i started to make a list of what i was watching during ONE season and KNEW it was going to be too much of a hassle to keep up with if i kept at it. Not only have i watched too much to want to try when i made this account. I simply watch too much consistently to feel like it's worth the effort to fool around with the list portion of this site. i mean.. watching 26 new anime this season that aren't even continuations. i'll pass. |

I love keeping track of things like this, so I always keep on top of my list. But I also don't find that very hard because I'm a casual anime fan, especially with my dedication to school I don't really have much time to be watching a lot (Most of the shows on my list were from when I was a huge otaku like 2 years ago and I'd binge watch anime. School's a lot harder now so I don't have the same amount of time). |

it would be another thing too if i binge watch a whole anime and move onto another one. a lot easier to keep up with that way. but i don't watch anime like that. i watch a lot of different ones at the same time and finish them all at different times. it's just not something at the front of my mind, ya know? completing an anime isn't something i think about? i don't see how people who watch a lot of seasonal anime really keep up with that shit, it blows my mind. guess it's just an acquired habit or something? it just feels like it's asking way too much from me lol also when i finish an anime i don't really think about it that much. a lot of times if not most of the time i just go directly to another episode of another anime i'm watching. |
