I wish an episode of anime was much shorter. Instead of 24 minutes, I'd prefer it to be 10-15 minutes.

For me, I think it's currently fine as it is. Because a shorter show doesn't fit much in, while a longer one might saturate the show.

I dislike watching anything with long episodes & movies because I usually get tired halfway if not before that. Current average length is fine.
I'm watching anime since 2012. I also play games, sometimes.

Don't bother me if you want to 'become friends' or things like that.
It's tiresome. I know you just want to collect some meaningless numbers.

Run time is fine the way it is now. If you skip the OP, ED, the next episode preview and the recap of previous episodes (if it's there) then the episode is usually about 18 minutes run time anyway.

Would be odd that anime would change in screentime when it has been a century long like this, but

It is fine as it is, and it can be a case to case basis, that's why I like 4-koma manga to be adapted to ONAs instead.

It's more about how good the episode is instead of how long , a long episode can feel short if good and a short one can feel longer if it's bad.

The length doesn't matter.
What matters is if I like the show or not because no matter what the length if I don't like it, I won't bother watching it...

I am actually quite happy with the length right now tbh.
Unlike TV dramas that literally go about an hour or so. I still have life outside of anime xD

Depends on the anime tbh I think comedy anime with more of the random situation
based humor works better in short episodes but longer action spectacles are great to

depends on le anime :^)

i think everyone has an intuitive understanding of how some anime fill their 22 minutes better than others.. like for occultic 9 it might be too less but for other series it might be too much
but such is the problem with tv format..

Its fine as it is. If a show is good an episode doesn't feel like 25 mins and if a show is bad it feels like it goes for longer.

ye 10-15 minutes is fine just like Ninja Slayer anime and for long running anime adaptations it will be better since there will be less filler and dragging of the scenes

I like the way it is, an average of 21 minutes. If the length is longer, sometimes in mid way I need to stop for a minute.

I think it varies directly to the plot. A fast paced anime is better for short lengthened episodes and vice versa. But in the end it really depends on how its length may bore the audience.

But I still think, the current length is fine to most of the anime. Most lengthy episodes tends to get boring. It's better to have 24min episodes to give time for breaks and let the hype remain consistent.

I'm sorta okay with a variety of episode lengths -- sometimes they seem to go by fast, sometimes slow, so it really depends on the show.

I wouldn't mind hour-long episodes for stuff with really complex plots (think some American shows like Law & Order for example), but anime hasn't ever done that it seems, barring OVAs.

20 minutes to half an hour is a really nice range for most shows. (Granted I also do watch a fair amount of shorts). But in the standard length it's usually enough to give a fair amount of information and progress with a nice amount of breathing room.

I think anything under an hour is fine though after that it might as well be a movie because that takes some planning to get a dedicated watching time.

It depends how much I like it.. If it's HxH new season then I'll want 1 hour-long episodes. But if it's an average anime or something I rated 7 or lower then I'd want the episodes to have about 15 minutes. (without OP and ED)

There are way too many overly fast paced anime and I've yet to come across one that was too slow, so longer. If you want entertainment in 10 minutes, watch spongebob

The current norm is fine. Shorts series are already a thing too if you prefer your entertainment i smaller bites.

As for longer episodes, there aren't many anime like that I guess. The only one that comes to mind is Katanagatari, which aired 50-minute episodes once per month until it ended.

I think it depends on the shape of the plot, if it is an episodic anime but at the same time progressive that lasts twice normal would be the best.
Not that I do not prefer that certain types of anime last less, what I do not like is their formula.

The current length of an episode is good. Not including OPs and EDs, I think approximately 20 minutes per episode is more than enough. We have types of anime that are shorter and longer anyway. Those are "shorts" anime where each episode is only a few minutes long, and movies, respectively.

I like mostly 22-24 minutes in length for most anime series, the normal length, I find no need to lengthen any series length unless it is an OVA series.

I like the 23-24 minute episodes. If they made them 30 minutes long, they would be kinda too long and if they made them shorter they would be too short. Tsurezure children I'm looking at you!

If you make all eps shorter, then you won't have any time to actually go anywhere with the story and characters without rushing it all in 1 go, especially since most shows are only ~12 eps

On the other side, it's hard for shows to be +24ish minutes long and still release every week since it takes way more time/effort to draw hour long animations, rather than 24 min ones (per week)

So I think 24 mins is fine as it is

I've said this, but I like the current length. Bingeable, yet not too short.

The biggest reason I'd want anything shorter is so I can cram something in between classes. And I'm usually not that bored or desperate.

I'm starting to wonder if everyone is crazy, or just too tolerant.

The average anime ep is 24 minutes. OP and ED are about 1:30 each, so 24-3=21 minutes.

It's like...there are plenty of shorter visual media that convey greater storytelling in a shorter period of time, like movies (1 hour + 1/2) or even shorts like Space Patrol Luluco and Oshiete Galko Chan (7 min per ep).

Or you're the outlier. Not to be rude, but just because we're different than you doesn't mean we're weird.

Even if some shorter stories are good, doesn't mean that every story will benefit from being shorter. Personally, if most of my favorites were shorter, I'd be very upset.

I'm talking about how a whopping 78% of the people who voted the poll said that they're fine with the length. I mean Christ, even Digibro made a video where he complained that an ep is too long.

Yours and Digibro's opinions are not more valid than anyone else's.

If 78% of people think one thing, and 4% of people think another, then, by definition, the 78% is the standard and the 4% is the outlier.

There is such thing as being too intolerant, rather than too tolerant.

No, I'm not saying our opinion is more valid than anyone else's.
I'm just sitting here wondering how much free time people can have to waste 21 minutes x 12/24/100 = 12/25/105 hours on generic artstyles, shit production values, barely any frames except for generic sakuga.

Meanwhile, you can watch an anime movie that's 1-2 hours with much higher production values, and MUCH more frames of animation.

We want to see a longer, more developed story, moreso than we want production values. A longer story will take longer to tell.

Production values DO tell a story, though. In The Cat Returns, the MC is primarily defined by her frantic animation, the world is defined purely by creative color choices and designs.

I mean...how are tv anime actually have "more" developed stories, so much as they just put more pad?

Yeah I mean there's stuff like Naruto, Monster, One Piece, FMA that can't be turned into one movie and still be the same, but those are very few.

Besides, if you don't care about the quality of the animation (if there ever is anymore than 2 frames of head tilting), or the art...why not just read manga? I'm going to read the Higurashi manga which is essentially the same as the anime, without the god-awful production values.
