Why Most of Highschool Students in Anime wearing Sling Bag? I know some of anime characters like Mio Honda from Idolmaster and Saaya Yamabuki from Bang Dream! wearing backpack to their school.

And, in elementary school, most of students wearing backpack.

Cuz it's cooler?

The last thing you want to do is make your characters uncool :P

Eh, more fashionable I guess.

Also, at some point people just started making their characters wear sling bags and then it just started snowballing and now it's the mainstream to have your character have that kinda thing instead of backpack.

Their 'fashion' is pretty decent don't call it weird just cuz you don't like it.

I never said I didn't like it, weird ≠ bad. Plus, that was sarcasm, so...

On the internet it's hard to tell if someone is being sarcastic. Maybe if you said "Sarcastically" I would've never responded in such a manner. Smh.

Sling bags are better for back and spine health. It's moreso the fact that backpacks are seen as backbreakers.
In elementary school, a few crayons won't hurt your back.

So did I*, but then I started going by bicycle, and anything but backpack was impractical.

30 years later, and I still have that slingbag, top quality from Africa & pretty & "cool". :D

I guess that's the answer - who in highschool wants to look like an elementary shooler?

I thought it was their strict rule to have a school implemented bag, I guess I didn't do my research

I also wondered this - when in Minami-ke the girls (elementary) have pink backpacks and the boys black-ish ones.
*darn, using my right hand is off-limits for a while. Typing with my left hand only is ... eww.*

I think it was because of the strict rule of the school that student must always wear school implemented bag, or it is easier to draw similar bags.

I thought I wasn't able to post it due to my slow internet(I can't see if I posted it or not)

Anyway I think it was really because of strict rules in other schools, which I've recently searched,
Even when use is permitted, backpacks aren't always the first choice. While backpacks hold a lot, spread the weight between the shoulders, and allow for free use of both hands, they also have demerits, such as having to remove the backpack to access it, being unwieldy in tight spaces like trains, and making the back sweaty, especially in the summer.

Because this school-specified bag rule is common knowledge to the average Japanese viewer, any explanation is omitted in the work. So when an average viewer sees that everyone has the same bag, he/she would automatically assume that the school in this anime specifies the bag to use, and when another anime has different bags, then he/she would automatically assume this anime's school has no such regulation.

Cooler, more accessible, and flexible.
Honestly, there are no reason why one is not using a sling bag.

Because backpacks are childish. Sling bag also have a cooler name and are edgier in general.

I also had a normal handbag in school. We were a laptop class and there was no need for carrying heavy books from school to home to school.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure after 6th grade in Japan, students stop using the traditional Randoseru backpack. I would assume if the school allows it, students would choose something 'more fashionable' to carry their belongings in - such as a sling bag.

im weeb trash

We had those same in the school, or rather most school I've went to and we still mostly carried backpacks... Most backpacks, actually all of them have a special thing/hook not sure how it's called, on the top, and you can use to hang it on one of those hooks underneath the table... So it is probably not that, must be fashion more than anything tbh.

well, they need to change class pretty often, and they didn't necessary bring lot of things because they has their own locker and didn't necessary bring laptop... sling backpack simply much easier and practical...

I would hate to be forced to wear a sling bag. Backpacks are where it's at.

We had those desk hooks and lockers and usually used seperate laptop bags for pcs and still everyone used backpacks.
Just tradition.

Never liked sling bags, I always find my shoulder aching after a short time

I don't see any problems with backpacks. For real, there are many excellent models. It is the same accessories that can underline your individuality. More than that, they are really very roomy and comfortable. Sometimes I also wear backpacks because the load distributes evenly on the back and does not hurt the shoulder. Everyone knows that you have to carry many notebooks and literature in high school and the institute. Even world-known global brands create unique models of backpacks for true fashionistas and dudes. For example, my mom has this one from borboletabag.com, and sometimes I ask her to take it. It always attracts attention.
