The most popular word for this would probably be 'westaboo'. 'Yankophile' is a better word for America specifically but it's not widely used.

I don't know, it's actually pretty common for people to partake in some sort of American culture. Be it their entertainment industry, their pop culture, their festive holidays, their food culture (of junk food) etc.

The US is a leading cultural power after all.

I don’t think any one is like Weeboo with liking America.

So you're saying that America indeed has a culture?

They are called Westaboos. A famous real example is probably Hideo Kojima of the Metal Gear series, but there are plenty of anime characters who are Westaboos as well.

What's the difference?

As much as it's one that sprung up recently and is incredibly shallow, yes.

(Yes, I know there's more traditional American culture, but that isn't the one portrayed in mainstream entertainment, is it?)

Nationalists and their outdated beliefs..

Tropisch said:

How does my opinion make me a nationalist? I basically said it was odd someone would be called a term just for liking another country, or their own country a lot.

Not you, haha.

I'm gonna go with Freeaboo. Just like how somebody obsessed with France is a Ouiaboo and somebody obsessed with Britain is a Teaboo.

When in doubt go with stereotypes.

I don't get why people in this thread are being so hostile over the idea of someone from another country liking American culture, but yeah I think the term in westaboo.

got no idea but im usually just concerned about the politics and economy of USA since the whole world relies on the USA dollar as the world currency and when their economy drops so does the economy of the whole world

hopefully China will replace USA as the world superpower so that we will not rely on the declining value of the USA dollar

USAboos or westaboos or americaboos.

Just add the word of "boo" and everything will seem clear.

An Americaphile or Americaboo. I don't think westernboo is a good term to describe such people since America isn't the only western country and the person could be obsessed with American culture but not the culture of another western country like France for instance.

Trump supporters and alt righters on Mal to me seem more like weebs and not Americaphiles since they generally see all modern American entertainment media (American video games, comics, movies, shows) as all being pc, liberal, sjw propaganda and bad and worship Japanese entertainment media as being the greatest thing created by man.

Unfortunate but so true it's embarrassing.

I'm gonna go with an idiot. I was an idiot like that when I was in a relationship with an American and yes, gonna go with an idiot as the answer. Oh, did I already mention idiot?
