I'm surprised by baccano being at 8k. Isn't a series with a long hiatus selling less after it rather than more? IIRC Baccano wasn't selling that much before, but maybe I'm remembering it wrong. :O

Welp, that's the final volume for Alicization. Now A-1 Pictures can comfortably do an anime adaptation worth two seasons without resorting to anime original content just because they run out of content to adapt.

I did read somewhere that Reki Kawahara was still planning to write more SAO content and that the Alicization arc is not the final arc of SAO. Even though Alicization is like the longest arc in the series so we all assumed that this would be the final arc.

149k sales in its first week. I'm impressed and I'm sure it's going to have about 300k or more total sales in the future

Also, I didn't know Re:Zero Volume 1 total sales reached 159k? I'm quite happy, I guess.

14. **6,901 *30,691 One Piece Film Gold

I really don't get this shit..There's literally a movie version out there. Why not just spend $15 just to go and see the film? Not only is it almost the same price as the LN's but the experience is much more better than just reading a wall of text. You also have the choice to see it with your friends, which from my experience, is much more fun than reading a LN alone on your room.

Considering the rate of the other arcs, you actually have a good 4 cours here.
And yeah, SAO will continue.

Haha, funny because that's what I thought too since number 18 is a random number for me and 20 is a tens value and it's always best to end an arc in a tens value. Well, that's how I see it, I suppose.

I'm pretty sure that most of the people who buy this will also have watched the movie

If Kawahara won't write anything anymore, we can give up on animation. It won't happen, since there is nearly zero chance to get anime if the source material is already finished.

P.S I really do believe he will write more, otherwise I'll be very very sad

P.S.S Kimi no na wa - another incredible week for light novel, i love it

Actually, an hour after I wrote my comment, I just found out that he will write more content..
Seems like a new SAO Volume will come out at 2017.

Also, about your first sentence. What do you mean? If Reki was done with SAO after this arc, we'll still get an anime adaptation since A-1 Pictures confirmed that SAO will get a full adaptation. If he was done after Alicization then we'll only get like Season 3 and 4.

Well, I heard many times that literature doesn't get an anime adaptation anymore if the source material is finished due to business model or so (ex. Index). But if they already officially confirmed it, then it might not be the case here... (Hopefully)

P.S I also head that there were some discussions to remake Aincrad a while ago, but eventually they decided that it's not what fans really want (lol). I think, that would be a very good idea

Yeah i read somewhere somethin about this too that A-1 would give SAO a full adaptation thats why allot ppl including me are eagerly waiting for that sequel and simply cant understand why they went and made a movie which will even have original stuff and its coming out in 2017 which means that we wont probably see s3 of sao until 2017 fall earliest maybe or 2018 spring since this 2 season are kinda the main ones when it comes down to anime with 24ep~
Anyway the way SAO is still popular now even getting a TV show, i simply cant imagine not recieving a complete adaptation....

Well, Index is still going and the sales are still generally good but I honestly have no idea why J.C Staff is not making a 3rd Season. They missed out on the opportunity to make shit loads of money and now they blew it because the hype has died down. Hell, I'm still here waiting for the 3rd Season of Railgun.

Yea, there's a series of LN right now called "Sword Art Online: Progressive". It now has 4 or 5 volumes and it retells the story of Aincrad starting from floor 1. Each volume is appearantly 1 floor and it is much better than the Aincrad arc in the original SAO. A-1 Pictures probably wants to finish adapting the main series first before adapting Progressive.

Don't worry, Reki is writing the script so I have hopes that the movie will turn out just fine. His writing has significantly improved, after all. It might even be canon since he's writing the script. I'd say SAO III will come out at Fall 2017 too.

The thing is, NT is a sequel, not the main series...

P.S I just found something. Someone wrote on GoBoiano a while ago:
"Manga and light novel publishers are using the anime to promote the source material. If people aren't watching the anime, but sales of the source material are increasing during the run of the anime, they will be happy. Music companies are concerned with selling image song CDs or promoting their idols (think Love Live!).

If a manga or light novel finishes, the possibility of another anime season becomes nonexistent. That's one of the reasons a third season to A Certain Magical Index has not been made; the light novel ended in 2010. Unless ASCII Media Works wants to celebrate an anniversary for the series or remake it several years down the line to introduce new fans to the light novels, you'll be forever waiting."

Last volume sold 9406 in 1 less day than this one had, so you're looking at a 15-20% drop perhaps? It was also the first volume of the series since the rankings expanded to not get a second week.
Also perhaps worth bearing in mind that this is actually the 5th >1 year gap in the series. Perhaps it reduces the impact if there have been so many of them already?

oh, really, it was selling that much? Thanks for the information, I completely forgot about that.
Hmmm that's a possibility as well, although a nearly 3 years gap has no precedent for baccano so that's not the same gap either.
