moodie said: top 2 are getting that movie boost Movie for Kokuhaku Yokou Renshuu isn't out for a few weeks yet so I doubt that has much to do with things. It could make things interesting when it does, though... Plus the last volume sold 22.2k in 5 days against 24.4k in 4 days for this - and the series has been in the POS top 500 for one volume or another almost every week in the intervening 9 months so you'd expect the sales to be trending upwards. Speaking of which, POS ranks for this week aren't on book-rank.net yet and I cbb to trawl through the main website for them this late in the evening so I'll post them tomorrow morning. Series rankings aren't up on the oricon website yet either. |

Even the KonoSuba spinoffs are selling very well, always a sign a series has truly made it. Date A Live and Vanadis still going strong, DxD dropping faster than I remember though. A shame but it's sales are still great. |

I don't think Re zero will get that big of a boost , I think netoge will get a more significant boost (its funny and it honestly reminds me of Haganai) |

JoksPacifist said: I am wrong or the "isekai" trend is now in full force ? You're not wrong, but the week covering the end of the month is always the big one for "isekai" stuff as that's when Hero Bunko's releases come out, and they've been releasing fairly successful isekai series since well before it became a trend and are the closest thing to an isekai specialist label. Monster Bunko also releases at the same time and isekai is a natural companion to their own speciality, so they've taken to a disproportionately large number of isekai releases as well. Furthermore, Alphapolis seem to have developed an addiction to isekai and also most frequently release stuff at the end of the month. |

@kuuderes_shadow There are actually 2 different types of rankings given on Oricon Youtaiju: ● 週間ライトノベル作品別売上ランキング ● 週間ライトノベル商品グループ別ランキング The Oricon website uses the first one, while hpulley has given the second one there. 2ch always gives the second one there, so the one we are most interested in is what hpulley posted. EDIT: The difference between the two this week is the "短編集". The previous volumes aren't considered "短編集". 3 告白予行練習 短編集 24,403 KADOKAWA (著)藤谷燈子/(原案)HoneyWorks/(イラスト)ヤマコ |

How bizarre. I guess it's probably not strictly accurate to stick the figures from one set of rankings onto the other (although differences are far from common), but I would certainly hold that both sets of rankings are of interest, albeit in different ways. (edit: added gakusen toshi asterisk. Sorry I missed it earlier) |

Re:Zero volume 7, 6, 5 etc. Every volume has made it on the rankings either in the first or second week. Volume 3 managed both. Remember we can say boku dake is precisely 7645 - there are no earlier volumes. It's thus perfectly reasonable for Re:Zero to be under 8k. Anyway, we're probably looking at around 2.5-3k between the first 7 volumes all told, which is about 400 per volume. Of that, 200 might be the bump from a new volume coming out and 100 might be the background sales rate, giving a bump of about 100 sales per volume in anime boost. That would mean about 700-800 sales in the form of anime boost, which is about 10% of the total sales. The figures in this paragraph are completely made up, of course; even if we had all the sales figures we still wouldn't know the cause. I don't think they're all that unrealistic, though. Of course, it's also worth considering that the period covered here ends shortly before the anime aired. The sales boosts, if they materialise, will begin in next week's rankings. The only light novel that had begun airing at this point was Asterisk. On which note, I realise I missed out Asterisk from the POS ranks post above. I'll add that now. |

Kuma said: thanks for explanation. thats very informative. is asterisk boost good? Asterisk already had its boost with the first half so it would take something pretty special for a big boost now. That said, last week vols 1-9 sold 1.9k, whereas this week it was 2 places higher on the series ranking than Gundam Unicorn which sold 9.2k from volume 11 alone (and you could argue that Unicorn should be getting an anime boost as well... I'm not going to include it though as I have no idea what the actual situation with that is), whilst Asterisk 10 sold 6.6k. This means at least 2.6k sales for volumes 1-9 of Asterisk. I would speculate it was fairly close behind Next Life once you factor in any back volume boost for Unicorn and the fact that there was another series between it and Asterisk. This would mean 3.6k backlog sales for Asterisk, roughly double the amount of last week, with the increase probably attributable to the airing of the first episode of the second season. @hpulley - feel free to. I'm okay with keeping posting the website ones if you don't want to, though, and having them in different posts could potentially reduce confusion. |

That "boost" in re zero can't even be attributed to the Anime since it aired on the 4th and if you look carefully you will realise that this best selling list doesn't go up to that date "Here are the weekly light novel rankings for March 28 - April 3" so yeah... |
