i dont like that wuote for som reason,if u dream of somthing impossible, than ur wasting ur time. the purpose of a dream is that you want it to come true.
iunno its complicated, i dont like the quote, but i dont really hate it. i do like ed's response though

I'm curious. At the end Ed said something about Roy's true intention of coming to their hometown to their Aunt Pinako, Ed said, "Maybe-" And the Strong Arm Alchemist suddenly appeared. What could Ed be trying to say?

that was kinda bad for Ed for mentioning the incident in Ishbal in front of armstrong.

glad he said sorry in the end ^^

man that douchebag kid that stole Alphonse's armor was annoying.

i actually thought they were gonna spend a episode or 2 fixing the problem from kid, amd how he was angry with the royal family for stealing their land and gold.

the soldier refuses to auto mail himself since he want to remind himself the horros of the Ishbal incident huh??

and wow Edward is pretty determine to achieve his dream, though he is the reason why Al got separated in the first place.

Armstrong is soo strong and can lift Ed and Al at the same time while dashing towards the rain!!!!!

good episode, now onto Winry!!!!!

It's really just a play on words.
It can also be related to one my quotes that I believe in, that would be "Make your dream something impossible, and strive for it your whole life."
You will actually be living, never stop working, and never become bored.
It really only works for people who have a high self esteem though. Like Akari from Aria. If you easily get depressed because you didn't "Progress" the first time, you can never enjoy life to the fullest. Learn from your mistakes and failures.

Ed's quote could have been interpreted in a completely different way if he used the word "Goal" or "Mission" or "Objective."

It's a subjective quote. The only meaning behind the quote is it's philosophy behind it, you can't exactly take it at face value.

It is a nice quote though. I always remembered it when I watched this show long ago.
It's obviously a successful quote if just one sentence can make me ponder this much anyway.

lol that he didn't notice she was having his leg in her arm and fell forward i thought he would at least notice it XD. i wonder what he wanted to say when he was talking about the colonel when he said he came because he wrote a letter to his father and stuff cause he did not finish his sentence.

lets see whats next.

An okay episode, but mostly I thought it was boring. At first it seemed we were about to start an arc to help the boy that stole Al, but then I remembered that neither Ed nor Al can really do much until they get fixed.

Best part was when Al said "baah!" lol -- 3/5

Very good episode, comedy expertly mixed concepts serious and deep, the narrative has managed well these two aspects. Intriguing plot, the character of Armstrong and really cool, good drawings and animations.

The thing about this anime is that the "filler" has a justifiable amount of entertainment that it hardly feels like such.

Considering the conversation between Ed and the retired solider...
I'd like to think I understand it much better now versus 10 years ago. I would argue that after a dream is fulfilled you have thought of all avenues to either be content with peace or use it to propel another dream. Having goals is incredibly important, even if they are impossible. It keeps you going through the dark times and helps you appreciate the small things when you have lost so much.

How is this filler? It served as character development for both Ed and Alex Armstrong. We learn more about Lust and we see Marcoh bite the dust.

Far from it IMO. It was mostly good but the part with Al being stolen was kinda lame. I liked the conversation between Ed and the old soldier though. On a side note...the Fuhrer gets more and more suspicious to me. There is something very dark about him.

I agree with the character development for Ed and Alex. The scene with Lust was also good. But Al getting stolen and the scene with the old soldier are basically filler. By the way, it didn't show Marcoh dying.

I assume that he may have wanted to apologize for what he did to Winry's parents in Ishbal. He almost killed himself after having to shoot them and their deaths probably still haunt him.

In case anyone knows, who voiced the war veteran in that episode? I feel like I've heard that voice somewhere, but I can't find the character on any character lists...

Other than that, I thought it was a great follow-up to an intense episode, it gives Ed and Al (ok, mostly Ed) time to reflect on what just happened to them and come to terms with the fact that the world is more complex than good vs bad

This show does a great job of integrating filler (or episodes that feel like filler) naturally into the main plot, but the actual content of the filler is usually pretty boring.
