Strange. The next movie looks way better than Giratina and the Sky Bouquet.

But damn, 2 million people. Isn't that like 1/6 of Tokyo's population? o_O

pokémon may have lost steam in the west, but it's still a heavy hitter in japan. it has multiple tv shows, including its own variety show. it's more popular than disney ever was, is, or will be.

I'm not surprised, Diamond and Pearl is the the best season we've gotten since Misty left (imo anyway, I mean, she's the only character who didn't travel with them straight off the bat to get in Ash's pants, and she's their age, when Dawn joins them Ash is an adult and she's 12... XD) and things keep going strong.

The English dubs sucked, but the fact that Team Rocket is no longer always trying to hijack the show has added enough variety to make me start watching it every morning again (granted we only get Battle Dimension so far in Oz, but still better than nothing).

And while I realise that I haven't added most of the Pokemon eps to my list, it's because I have no idea how many eps I've actually watched, like with most anime's from my childhood... actually, I plan to go back and watch every ep of DB, DBZ, Sailor Moon and Pokemon from the beginning one day.

Back on topic, not surprised, and hopefully this will cause a resurgence of Pokemon in the West, causing us to possibly be able to go to the movies to watch Pokemon again and get those fun little promo cards (you know you want them again)

For a good reason. Sky Bouquet was thoroughly awesome. The Arceus movie looks even better, though- they're saying darkest and most violent yet, which, imo, isn't a bad thing. I love Pokémon, still. xD

If anyone ever bothered to pay attention, Pokemon has been setting records all over the world since its conception.

This latest development is only surprising since the primary and strongest fanbase which existed between 1997 - 2000 have now grown up and mostly it's fewer kids (and hardcore Pokemon fans such as myself) who still pay attention to it in the West. The East is a different story though.

Pokemon gets the love and reverence it deserves in Japan.
