THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Seems like Arata is pissed as well. >GET OUT! ![]() Ya, I think so. Anyways, from his tone of voice, I recognized that Masato is the same VA as L-Elf from Valvrave. Masato also seems to have a cute acquittance this episode. I don't think he's happy about it though. Ending was kinda cute for me, aww hug :3 |

Basically the same episode as the previous 8 episodes, although Arata got tough there for about 10 seconds, he then falls into his predictable "Im worthless, can't do anything, oh woe is me" mentality. I would swear this show was a comedy cause it has me laughing constantly with how pathetic Arata is. So Kadowaki is pissed because Arata let him win a race in middle school. I had thought Arata had beaten him in a race and that's what sent him over the top crazy, but it was Arata feeling sorry for his best friend and throwing a race basically. Well, I can certainly see how that would make you want to murder your former best friend. /nods But no, really, this time for sure at the end of the episode Arata really does get his conviction, so buckle your seat belts! |

Huh. So they're using the other song from The Misfit Go single as the show's ED song for this episode huh? Shame that they didn't have any new animation to go along with it. Anyway, I hate to admit this, but I did like how some of these scenes were altered to fit this adaptation, like the scene where Kotoha finally realizes/accepts the fact that Hinohara's a different Arata. Still annoyed with how little they've showed the harassment bullying Kadowaki put Hinohara, through. You finally show something and all we get are still frames? Come on. >>;; It's pretty clear they're either aiming for an anime original ending or a to be continued sort of thing (Ha!) at this point, due to the exclusion of certain... details. And anyone that's read the manga can probably outline what's going to happen in the last three episodes at this point. *shrugs* |

Oh nice. Arata has the powers of darkness too. He came back with a better look on his face. Hopefully this happens on the remainder of the anime. |

Nice episode, but I really see no reason as to why they had to expand this entire episode with filler instead of just including more of the ever expanding storyline. They have too much material to animate but instead make up events that didn't even happen in the manga? Is that really a smart move, especially with only 3 episodes left? The "fight" between Kadowaki and Arata was brief, but that was to be expected, this episode was to really go into the relationship between the two once-friends now-enemies, and I have to say that this anime did a nice job of showing that, embellishing the "friendship" half of Kadowaki and Arata's relationship even more than the manga did. It still didn't go enough into the reasons why everything went sour, but that's okay. The part with Kannagi throwing the sword off the cliff and the wolf chase scene was completely anime original and while it did get a chance to show some nice backstory, I think it was a little superfluous. As for next week it looks like we're going to meet Yorunami's zokusho. I really thought they were going to skip that part in order to get to more of the plot, but I guess not. Also... It looks like Kadowaki is going to meet Akachi quite a bit ahead of time, since that meeting is really not supposed to take place until after Hinohara has gone through the other elemental Shinsho of Water, Wind, and Air. My fear is that they may try to skip these other arcs so they can rush Akachi's arc ahead, which would be horrible. At the pace they're going Hinohara won't even face Yorunami until episode 11, which would mean they would have to rush Akachi's arc into the last episode. That would be very disappointing since they have been following the manga pretty faithfully to a degree with the exception of a few filler arcs removed and some characters nixed altogether. So for them to just skip about 10 arcs (a majority with pretty important characters and events) and jump forward in the story is a little annoying. Well, we'll have to see what they decide to do. I give this episode a 7.5/10. Nothing much happened but had nice backstory. Oh, and the new ED was nice. |

If they do the anime-original ending, it will come out of the blue. However, the only other option I can see is: They are going to do the Hirako arc next week and so I'm guessing the Yorunami arc right after, now how long those will take, I don't know, but I'll say an episode per arc. However, they are having Kadowaki and Akachi meet next episode as well which is wayyyy ahead of schedule, so that leads me to believe that they will try to tackle Akachi's arc in the last episode. However, that means that many key events will be skipped including Kagura's arc and Yataka's arc, the drama that goes on with Kanate, the meeting of Mikusa and her servant girl (though even if they do get to that I think those characters will be taken out, just like Oribe and Seo), and then there's the stuff that's happening in Japan with Arata and Harunawa, there's just so much stuff integral to the stories plot that will be skipped. Which begs me to ask the question that I wondered in the beginning, of why they decided to even show Kasuga and Yataka, and the Six Sho in the opening, if you know you'll never be able to get to them really within your series? |

This episode was really great, although we saw Arata's demon side, we got to see the nature of why Kadowaki hates Arata so much!! I loved that OST! AND THAT NEW ED. song! :D That maid of Kadowaki is so right though; Kadowaki actually likes Arata, or else he wouldn't spend so much time on him... Kadowaki seriously needs help I wonder how they're going to finish this show in 12 episodes! :O |

Kadowaki and Hinohara's past revealed. He believed Hinohara was his equal but he betrayed him. Hinohara has no idea. That wolf scene was beautiful with that OST. I hope he changes him |

Just what he said made him create hatred, and that reflected the sword. Truth revealing, and that guy don't intend to steal the sword anymore. lol @ the maid for seeing through his heart (according to the memory). New ED at this point? UnbornMVs said: I found Kadowaki's reason behind his grudge against arata completely stupid. I think there's a deeper meaning to it. Kadowaki hates that Arata "looked down on him", by letting him win, like everyone else (his parents shown in the flashback), so he took all his frustrations out on Arata. What made it worse was the fact that Kadowaki considered Arata as his friend, so I'm sure he feels betrayed as well. Betrayal is a huge theme in the anime, I've noticed. Although I'm sure Arata didn't intend to look down on him; Kadowaki is probably the only one who thinks that. *facepalm* lol |

I laugh. Kadowaki is an idiot, I realize that he feels incredibly betrayed (and has family issues), but seriously, they were best friends before and now he wants to kill Arata. That's immature as hell. He's just making Arata the bad guy by saying "oh Arata you scum, you love looking down on others" etc etc, but that's obviously not true...well at least I liked him in the flashback. Hopefully Arata can knock some sense in Kadowaki, after finding his resolve (for the nth time). Finally Kotoha realizes that Arata is not her Arata. It kind of sucks that Arata had to keep apologizing like that because from the very beginning he didn't even try to pretend to the the other Arata, yes he said sorry for deceiving her. But that hug in the end was pretty cute. Guess they're okay now. I'm liking Kannagi more and more as well, lol when he punched Kanate in the back of the head. Nice hearing Oldcodex's other song from their single as the new ED, though not sure why they have a new ED...is is a new trend? Kakumeiki Valvrave surprised me with a new ED too two weeks ago. |

ok so, i'm watching this show. it's a solid 5/10. nothing really that stands out about it but a decent thing to watch in the background. sure. then episode 8 happens. and this kadowaki guy just transforms into the angriest nigga i have ever seen in programming, anime or not. i mean, this guy was furious, rage level maximum. i ain't never seen that kind of rage in my life. so i get intrigued, but based on the backstory of this kawosaki guy, it looks like he's angry about losing in a race. TWIST: turns out he's angry because an arata didn't try hard enough in goddamn practice. practice, man. he didn't try hard enough in PRACTICE. this kawobunga is the angriest dude i have ever seen in my life; he is so angry you'd think arata banged his mom, told his father to be abusive, and then turned everyone at school against him. but no, he's angry because arata sandbagged a race in practice. bravo, show creators. bravo. you've created the angriest nigga of all time with the flimsiest of reasons. |

I hope he changes him Welcome, and as to your question: Yes, all hayagami can have either heavenly kamui (spirit power/energy) or demon kamui. It all depends on the Sho that carries it. Tsukuyo, the hayagami that Arata carries is the strongest of all the swords, because it is the parent of all the others. Remember that the hayagami are gods that took the form of weapons. Tsukuyo is the queen of the gods and mother to them all (you find out they can be either gender but appear female most of the time), but as you saw, even Tsukuyo can turn be demonized if it's bearer holds hatred and anger in his heart. The only exception is Orochi, Kadowaki's hayagami. Orochi began as a demon sword and I'm not quite sure, but I think is the only one not originally created from Tsukuyo. So I'm not sure if it can even be un-demonized, even if it's bearer turned back to the light. They really don't go into this whole demon sword plot point until later when the Six Shinsho really begin to reveal their plans. |

Kadowaki was a track star for years and was breaking records, taking titles, along with the public eye. His younger sister came down with a sudden life threatening heart problem that only one doctor could fix, however this doctor had a gambling problem with small time high school track races. He told Kadowaki he would save his sister's life if he would lose at the upcoming tournament in the 1v1 race circuit and his opponent would be his best friend and rival, Arata! There was only one choice to make... The two line up and wait for the starter pistol, then they take off running like the wind, neck and neck. Right before the two reach the finish line Arata slowly falls behind Kadowaki with a smirk on his face. Kadowaki doesn't know how to slow down due to such a heavy burden on his shoulders. His sister never gets the surgery and dies, his mother leaves blaming him, and his father resents him for always letting everyone down. I have to believe this is what happens in the LN so I can continue to watch this anime, or if someone could let me know if Kadowaki's mom left before or after the race? |

Well, if that had happened that would have definately made it even more interesting. And his mom, I think left after the race. She left the father who was cheating on her, remarried and abandoned her son, never seeing him again after she left that day, and changing her phone number and all personal information without even telling him anything. Yes, Kadowaki suffers from abandonment issues with his parents, his so-called friends, and Arata was the last straw. |

Initially I was going to inquire if Arata was the last straw but for the wrong reasons. My thoughts were that his mother left before the race and his father blamed him immensely even though all the fault lied with in himself, his friends only surround him for his father's wealth/power and are willing to leave him at the drop of a hat, and his last place he found safety and comfort in began to crumble because he fell into a slump and barely made time for the tournament. Beating Arata would have made him feel like he still had some value and his father's words were wrong but all he saw was further betrayal from his last ray of hope. But did Arata actually pity him and simply let him win, did he have concern for his friend and see the intensity to win the race, or did he twist his ankle? I am rambling sorry, thanks for the initial reply though. |

This show is cram packed full of almost unbelievably stupid main characters. Hinohara is so laughably pathetic that it's hard to watch sometimes. You know you're a bad hero when you're more angsty and less effective than that fat little turd from accel world. Kannagi murdered the person he was sworn to protect and in doing so, knowingly started a war. Then he goes into full scale emo meltdown when someone kills his vassals. Was the plan for him to be the only one going around killing the other sho's vassals? What exactly did he think was going to happen? Finally we have Kadowaki. He goes into full on bat shit crazy, foaming at the mouth, rage mode just hearing Hinohara's name. And his reason? Because Hinohara let him win a race 3 or 4 years ago? Seriously? That's enough to push him into becoming a homicidal maniac. You dared to stand up to me? I must kill you. You just stand there and take? You're a spineless coward and I must kill you. I think the ending I'm going to cheer for is Kanate and Kotoha getting sent to the real world and then having the other world explode and kill everyone else still there. |

But did Arata actually pity him and simply let him win, did he have concern for his friend and see the intensity to win the race, or did he twist his ankle? I am rambling sorry, thanks for the initial reply though. It's closer to the later. Arata knew something was wrong as Kadowaki's grades and track performance was slipping. He thought one more problem on top of that would make it worse, plus he wanted to cheer up his friend, so that's why he threw the race. However, it all backfired which came totally to his surprise. Kadowaki never quite had a good home life, but things became increasingly worse what with the infidelity and the idea of divorce becoming a possibility. His one support was his friendship and track rivalry with Arata, but when Arata did what he did, he unknowingly pulled that last support away and everything collapsed. After their friendship ended, the divorce became a reality, the mother left without a second look back, the father became colder, and Kadowaki began to hang out at the wrong places with the wrong crowds. However, its really a matter of the two not really understanding each other. Kadowaki thought that Arata thought himself too good for him and was looking down on him, refusing to think of the other as an equal. And that thought process brought him to the conclusion that Arata never thought of himself as his friend and Kadowaki felt betrayed. However, the truth is that Arata never understood why his friend turned against him, and he never understood or realized the way Kadowaki looked up to him. He's actually an ultra-nice person, with a pretty delicate spirit, which was why he never fought back against Kadowaki's horrible bullying and abuse. Eventually, the bullying got so bad that Kadowaki eventually, unknowingly psychologically broke him, causing Arata to stop going to school altogether. |

4/5 For once Arata shows the attributes, even if briefly! XD But the evolution seems to me good, because finally the relationship between him and Kotoha now can take on a meaning. I want more action though, and if there really is a second season there must be a development of the plot faster! However, not epic, but a good bet. |

You know you're a bad hero when you're more angsty and less effective than that fat little turd from accel world. Hinohara is a decent hero, I hate to repeat myself but the anime did a bad job portraying him. They also did a poor job to depict how bad Kadowaki's bullying is, in Japan there's people bullied who even suicide and its a big problem so how do you expect him to not be angsty? And in the manga Hinohara is a funny character but the anime deleted all the comedy. The anime has been focusing on the angst only. Kannagi murdered the person he was sworn to protect and in doing so, knowingly started a war. Then he goes into full scale emo meltdown when someone kills his vassals. Was the plan for him to be the only one going around killing the other sho's vassals? What exactly did he think was going to happen? The 12 of the Shinshou were the ones who agreed on assassinate her, not only Kannagi. If the anime had time you would realize that not everything was perfect with Hime-ou and none of the Shinshou was happy with their current situation (even Hime-ou herself had her own issues). And the Six Shinshou already were doing bad stuff even before coup d'état but won't say more to not spoil the ones who want to read the manga or buy the licensed manga. Kannagi didn't expect that HIS BEST FRIEND for more than 400 years to be the one to kill his vassals. Read comments above but basically he had psychological problems due to his family and decided to make Hinohara the only reason for all his problems. He's crazy, that's it. There's characters who aren't meant to be sympathetic. I think the ending I'm going to cheer for is Kanate and Kotoha getting sent to the real world and then having the other world explode and kill everyone else still there. What? Kanate is an annoying character but won't say anything for spoilerish reasons and in the real world there's an awesome girl who resembles Kotoha that helps the other Arata but the anime prescinded of her. |

Oh, and one small thing they didn't make clear. Just like everyone sees black-haired Arata when looking at Hinohara, everyone sees Harunawa (albeit in a school uniform) when looking at Kadowaki. Only those who have switched worlds can see another person who has switched worlds as they truly are. So only Hinohara and Kadowaki can see each other as their original selves, to everyone else (except of course the audience) it looks like black-haired Arata fighting Shinsho Harunawa. And by that same token, only Arata and Harunawa can see each other as they truly are in Japan. Everyone else seems Hinohara and Kadowaki. Again, this becomes a bigger plot point in the manga. |

Derp, another girl trips on her way out. Oh and that was the most half-assed explanation and reason for all the rage Kadowaki has towards Hinohara. I'd understand if maybe Hinohara kicked Kadowaki's puppy and/or if Hinohara caused Kadowaki's parents to separate. Not saying you can't be angry for thinking that a friend was looking down on you while you're going through rough times but damn... Kadowaki actually wants to KILL Arata. Really now? |

Didn't you saw that the guy didn't do his best against him? That's the worse shit EVER! NOTHING, NOTHING!!! can be worse. Killing your parents raping your sister, invading your country and committing genocide, abandoning your child, terminal illness, being experimented upon, all that are bullshit in-frond of THROWING A PRACTICE RACE! HE MUST DIE,DIE,DIE,DIE,DIE,DIE,DIE,DIE,DIE,DIE,DIE,DIE,DIE. Finally now i get Kadowaki anger. That's some serious shit. yes i am being ironic. theamato said: ok so, i'm watching this show. it's a solid 5/10. nothing really that stands out about it but a decent thing to watch in the background. sure. then episode 8 happens. and this kadowaki guy just transforms into the angriest nigga i have ever seen in programming, anime or not. i mean, this guy was furious, rage level maximum. i ain't never seen that kind of rage in my life. so i get intrigued, but based on the backstory of this kawosaki guy, it looks like he's angry about losing in a race. Just you wait and see the story am creating. It will be about about a guy decided on the biggest bloodbath EVER! because the damn sandwich didn't have mayonnaise like he asked. He was fucking lied too that it had mayonnaise, he even asked when he took it and yet no mayonnaise. He realize what a lying worthless shits human are. NOW THE WORLD MUST PAY!!!!! |

Even Maid-chan said so "You can't help thinking about him." and now, I just can't help myself!! XD *faints* I'd love a Doujinshi about KadowakiXArata!!! XD Hmm, I never thought about them being together. Interesting idea. Strangely enough, despite being a Watase story and have a majority of male characters, I never really had any BL vibes while reading/watching this one. The only characters I thought might have a little bit of BL chemistry was: Kitkutsune and Isora, Shimu and Ikisu, perhaps Hinomiya and Kagura (though that was mostly for laughs), and strangely enough Harunawa and Arata in that BDSM sort of way. LOL As for Hinomiya and Kadowaki, my fujoshi vibes never really picked up with them. They seem to either be stuck in the purely friends or the purely enemies category. I don't know most of the characters you mentioned XD and with the anime only having 13 episodes even lacking most of the explanation on the behavior of characters, it's compelling me to read the manga... Oh, sorry here: Kitkutsune, Isora, Shimu, and Ikisu are 4 of the Six masked Shinsho. Kagura is the Shinsho of Wind (dark-haired shinsho in the OP that wears white and black and has dark skin), and Harunawa is the masked Shinsho that traded places with Kadowaki. Yeah, I would definitely read the manga, especially if you like what they've done here. The anime is doing an okay job of presenting everything, but I have to say that the manga really has more impact. |

Well, I mean, I'm pretty sure Arata tried to tell Kotoha initially, but everybody was saying "What are you talking about?".. Kadowaki really likes Arata, he's the only thing on his mind at all times. So I can take a guess that Arata will talk Kadowaki back into being friends and then they both will fight the other Sho, given that at one time in the past, their relationship was very close. Just a guess. |

I am quite enjoying this anime. But I just can't like the characters very much. He beat me in a race and showed pity so he must die. I understand he has had a lot of people treat him bad and he is angry his only true friend pitied him too, and this would make him angry. But I just can't see how this leads to him wanting to kill him. And not just normal want to kill him, all the evil sho were not evil enough to gold his weapon, but he qualified to use it because his anger of his friend letting him win a race just made him that evil. Arata is also rather whinny, but I am use to whinny leads. I wish the 'other' Arata was in it more, he actually seems like a cool character xD. |

Good episode. Watching this at 3x speed is about perfect. I can read about 95% of the dialogue and understand what is happen. I don't have to waste 23 minutes, only 8 minutes. |

Exactly, that pissed me off quite much pretending as if he tried to deceive anyone. The first 7 episodes always made me think how has this such a low rating. Nothing extraordinary story-wise but solid and I looked forward to each new episode. The last two were a revelation. Impressive how bad and pathetic this anime turned out to be. |

Okay, the new ending was pretty nice, but I can't still get over what kind of a mental fvck-up Kadowaki is. So, he goes into full rage-mode because Arata lets him win and follows that up by years and years of abuse of Arata, and yet ARATA is the EVIL one in his eyes?!? Man, Kadowaki doesn't just need some Ritalin to calm down, he needs to visit a shrink, stat. This is pathetic. |

I still can't get over how Kadowaki's reason to hate Arata is so fucking stupid. |

WOW the depth of this anime's story is remarkable! Kodowaki wants to kill Hinohara because he SLOWED DOWN in a race! Understandable... I'd wanna kill him too. Are you fucking kidding me? And by the face of Hinohara, he didn't even do that. He was distracted for some reason, at least it looks that way to me. And his wimpiness is beyond tolerable. The only reason I haven't quit this anime yet is because I'm kind of interested in it's premise, but the characters are horrible and the story has no depth at all. Could've been an awesome anime otherwise. |

*wipes tears away* That Kadowaki guy really has some netal problems, all this hate because of that little incident. Anyway, I really like that Arata stays peaceful. It'd be nice if that stayed like this till the end, solving things not through violence. |
