THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
It becomes apparent that Maya is one of the "Ideal Children", designer clones, however, her true nature is yet to be revealed since it is suspected that these clones have degenerated over several generations and that Natura are used in some way which might explain the similarities between them and Maya.

The whale Ozuma seems to play a key role in the whole issue as Maya feels a strong connection to it though she still doesn't know the reason for it yet.

Interestingly, the man in one of the tanks resembles Sam's older brother who went missing when searching for Ozuma...

It does seem pretty apparent that Gido is using the body or a clone of Sam's brother. And Ozma seems to a ship of some sort.

After last weeks battle, there seems to be a lot more explanations this time around. Good episode.

Ok so our futuristic Kindgdom of Prussia is made of clones and body-snachers
I liked the idea also that Ozuma is some giant ship doing whatever it does but is conected with Maya
Dune anyone ;)

and more technobabble which is fine :)

and i know what to do after it finishes - cutting out OP and ED to make one long movie, it will be great :) still series is very nice

Well, clone not quite since the require a Human body for their survival, it's more like a vintage car being restored, but since you can find the parts what you do is substitute parts from another car.

You know what this reminds me of, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. We've got Kakihara Tetsuya as the main character on a ship that travels around the desert in a post-apocalyptic world. Then out of nowhere shows up the love interest for the main character, a mysterious girl with white hair who has a history with the bad guys and is adressed as -sama. Even the mess hall scene reminded me of Gurren Lagann, they're trying to establish this cast of diverse and likeable characters, just like in Gurren Laggan, although with Gurren Lagann they were successful.
Other than that there's not much to say. A pretty boring episode where not much interesting happened, so far the only thing that is good about this show is the art style, which I by the way have gotten over, I thought it was cool at first but now it's just eh.

When Ozuma appears in scene, it's very similar to Angel's Egg prologue when the strange man meets that giant robot-like sphere. It's basically the same feeling. I liked this episode.

They've started to make more and more animes concerning pirates. This one's not bad either but from 6 episodes can't be expected much. In this current episode only the food fight and the end were interesting. And of course we learned more about these Ideal Children but Maya's secret will probably be revealed in the end of the series.

8/10 from me ^^

I thought this episode was the weakest so far, but I like that we know a little more about Maya AND that the whale is a ship/machine...

I think this show would've benefited from a longer air time. We're 1/2 way already.

matsumoto-san cornered the market on space pirate anime way back in the late '70s - you can hardly accuse the inventor of the whole genre of following recent trends!

Ok episode. Glad a few questions got kind of answered at least.

Maya seems to have some connection the ozuma ;o

And Sams brother was used to make a clone it seems.

Well look forward to the next episode.

Surprise! They have a sand submarine as well! O_O Sam was annoying in this episode, or maybe it's just me.

Gido's current body is formerly owned by Sam's older brother? They resorted to using someone's body as spare parts now. Eww....

So the titular sand whale Ozuma, is a machine? Or a big, 'sentient' sand ship from the looks of it.

Still a bit confused, but let's see ... Maya's part of this "Ideal Children" group who are a bunch of clones? Sam's brother is the body that Gido is using ... interesting how the people just seem to be using other people's bodies, that was certainly a surprise :P
Maya runs away ... *sigh* Then when the ship comes up ... they're like OH NO WHAT IS THIS ... AND YET THEY DO NOTHING. They don't try to STOP or TURN BACK they just KEEP GOING. YES, REAL SMART. Then when Sam's like "NO WAIT MAYA!" he ... DOESN'T MOVE. Doesn't try to get her or anything just FLOATS THERE. Uhm ... OK then ... O_O
Next episode is a war underneath the sand, so these Theseus people have a sand ship too. Ozma looks different than what I expected ... O_O
So are the Theseus and the Natura different "species" then? The way the doctor was talking about them in the beginning made that seem right ...

I'm quite surprised whoever that Gido is has taken over the body of Sam's older brother!
What a cruel world, but wish Sam's older bother will come back somehow.
Ozuma is not a living creature? This is getting more interesting.

The people who are using Natura to make clones are evil. Will they ever be stopped?

Maya has been captured! What will Sam do now?
