I hope they're going to do more than freeing all those youkais, the preview seems to predict what will happen in the next episodes :)
this ep is way better than the first, but still on the verge of being dropped... Doesnt have adequate plot, sluggish animation, a little interesting sound&music and on top of all these, it might get quite dull for most of the time..But this ep was a bit better at balancing some action and telling the background of the characters, especially compared to the first one...
After this episode it really got to emotionally! Man emotions and supernatural are quite something. Most would probably not know this but Hana experiences were probably not understood by most people considering she was the one left to worship The Dew God. I really have a bad feeling that we may run into the first spirit user other than Natsume in #3, he's called Kaname. On top of that he really might screw over that courage mansion thing by Sasada. This might be crazy in #3.
Oops! I appear to be incapable of following Rules 16 and 17, so I had to have a mod change my sig for me.
This episode is definitely better than the first, but yes it seems that it's getting repetitive with just freeing the youkai. Still, it's a good show that I'll continue to watch.
Definitely liked this more than the first episode. Still wish the series was a bit more original, but considering it's the second best thing this summer and I would rather have an anime of this nature over yet another crappy action anime it has my support.
This is a lot calmer than the anime I've been watching lately, yet somehow this episode managed to convey so much emotion x] I think I could have cried XD
And in that preview...did I hear MikiShin? =O If that was him, then...yesss♥
it's perfect like this. I want more episodic stories if they are so good. I don't care about a plot or fights or action: this show could stay as a "spiritic slice of life" and still i would love it.
That was a pretty good episode too. This show realy have kind of a mushishi feeling, and that's all goo for me. I like the slow pace and the characters are interesting. I agree with otacu, I don't nedd more action. The art is well matched with the story too, even if it's simple.
Hmm this anime is really fascinating, just like Mushishi, it has both a quiet and beautiful feeling in it. There's a lot of different situations involving various spirits too, even in the first two episodes and I don't feel like it's boring, so it's all good for now.
Oh and I forgot : the kitty g0d is awesome ;)
In every age, in every place, the deeds of men remain the same.
This episode really made me feel warm and fuzzy inside. I also felt bad for Tsuyukami. No one payed any attention to the poor spirit. The part where Nyanko woke up Natsume was funny. It was some nice comic relief from the rest of the episode. I liked this ep more than the first one.
So a new character is going to be introduced in the next ep. Things are going to get interesting.
Oh brother, this series is being insulted for having emotional content... wish people could learn to appreciate the gentle and quiet things in life for what they are.
This was a beautiful episode. It was hard to tell whether or not this series was going to be good from the first episode, but I am now definitely sure that I'll be keeping it. The end was awesome, very likely the most touching scene that's aired this summer.

uh-huh, i thought that too. the whole atmosphere is very Mushishi-like. Mushishi is on the darker side though and doesn't have as much comic relief. but definitely something connects the two.
Man am I glad to see page 2 of this discussion has some more positive feedback. This series really is beautiful so far. I'm loving the emotion and characters. Who cares if all the main character is doing is freeing them so far? It's only episode 2, give it a chance! Also, this series has a gorgeous soundtrack. I can't wait for the OST to come out, just so I can grab those piano pieces we've heard.
This is gonna be a keeper I reckon.
Great episode in my opinion. I really do love my episodic supernatural anime with light-hearted humor eh? Better go watch the next two episodes soon, or I'll fall behind on this anime as well. I'm behind on enough anime as it is.
littlebluetotoro said: good episode, was touched by tsuyukami and hana's relationship and natsume's sincerity towards tsuyukami before he disappears.
You said what I wanted to say. But also I hope that they are going to do more than just freeing spirits. And from the few comments that I've seen so far, it appears that there will be.

Me too. There's something so sweet about her visiting even up until her last day and then he disappears from this world just after she does.
I also liked neko-sensei stealing the sweet bun offering Natsume tried to leave on the way back. Natsume was trying to be all thoughtful and neko-sensei was just thinking how it was a waste of a sweet bun lolz.
Very nice episode, with a bitersweet ending. It made me think a bit about the state of belief in general in the developed countries of the world. It's sad to think of the spirits and gods fading away as no more people take the time to visit them.
