... what? Nobody could stop there in good conscience. I knew it was coming, but I expected at least something like "There is a tale beyond this, but we'll save that for a later time."

I loved this episode too, like all the others. If Arslan was given enough time, I seriously think it would have rivaled Legend of the Galactic Heroes.

Dammit.

I believe this last ep was the best made, best directed of the whole OVA. I bet the team knew the plug was getting pulled so they said oh what the hell, lets do our best.
"...our faces marked by toil, by deceptions, by success, by love; our weary eyes looking still, looking always, looking anxiously for something out of life, that while it is expected is already gone – has passed unseen, in a sigh, in a flash – together with the youth, with the strength, with the romance of illusions.” - Joseph Conrad ('Youth')

WHAT?! Just when it gets more interesting, it ends.. It's like the anime version of Basara! I wonder why these animes with such potential are discontinued..!!!!

Wish I could've continue witnessing Arslan's journey.. Oh well it was quite an ending, I love how in the end the seven of them all ended up together again. It's like, the beginning of another new (unknown) journey.

And wow, I didn't know that this anime is based on the novel of the same title written by Yoshiki Tanaka who also wrote Legend of the Galactic Heroes! How amazing is this guy...

Yet another disappointment for the 16 years I waited for sequels to the episodes before they changed hands to some other company. This episode is better, some action to see and even blood. Civillians are slaughtered even a child and women by those horrible Huns, Narsus uses Zhuge Liang like strategy to beat them, I can't ignore how lacking good action scenes are in Age of Heroes as well as the lack of quality to its predecessors. Andragoras' daring escape is of some comfort, the Lusitanian king really embarrasses himself by trying to take on mighty Andragoras, what makes him think he has any chance? Being drunk I guess.... That was the best part of the episode! Afruido has been made cuter I noticed also, Pharangase has a different look, less like She-Ra now without her two valkyrie horns. Now what surprised me was how unhappy Peshawar was seeing Andragoras had returned, well it was no secret they got fed up of him... Andragoras is mean to his son, exiling him and only Daryoon dares to defend him though Arislan remonstrates him for it, oddly the King doesn't lose his temper with Daryoon like he did in the first part and I'd have thought he'd be mean to Narsus also due to the bad blood they had over slavery. Little Arislan wanted just one favour to see his beautiful mother, denied. Poor guy, yet his companions seek him out at the end so it's back to square one almost... I can't see how Palse cannot retake Ekubatana with the King back and his talented followers, it is utterly annoying they end it here though. The cheesy ending with the Eagle landing on Arislan is now just overdone, so that is it. At present the end of the line and they didn't even use new ending music, not a good effort IMO when compared to the first two feature episodes. So I'm left to wonder what happens next as we all are. Typical! I wonder how tough Andragoras is, from his prison break he appears to be very capable, I'm guessing he could probably take Daryoon AND Silvermask combined! How they were able to catch him in the first battle was a fluke.... So here I am 16 years later, with little more knowledge as to how the story progresses, will it be another 16 long years before we see the conclusion?

I got to the final episode and was like what the fuck/ I am pissed the hell off how it ended. It did leave on a good note. I really hope they continue.

Lately i have been watching a lot of 1980-90s anime shows. This is one of the best adventure animes i saw.

If anybod got any recommendations on some good classic adventure/fantasy/before guns animes let me know, well send me a pm.

I have saw Record of Lodoss(even the sequels), currently watching Legend of Basara. Its probably other i saw just cant name them but please let me know.

I didnt know this had the same author of Legend of the Galactic Heroes. I mean seriously Yoshiki Tanaka work never gets finished. I did some more research he wrote Tytania and i love that show.

Why cant more artist tell complex entertaining stories like Yoshiki Tanaka .

This show gets a 9/10 for me. I would gave it a 10 but atm the Arslan is a little too soft.

Oh yeah this is probably the only OVA/TV/MOVIE series that i liked the whole soundtrack. I really got to find who did it i have to hear more of his/her work.

I thought the same way when it ended, it kept me hanging or somehow I felt cheated of a good story. Oh well... moving on.

I'm tempted to give it a 9 for the potential and wealth of stories it had to offer, and then an easy 8 in my rating but I felt dissatisfied with the ending (even though it was a feel good ending), I'll settle for 7/10.

The whole show felt like it was moving a bit too fast in the beginning and now this end. But the whole idea and story in general is really captivating and one of the best I've ever had a chance to see.

A bit of a weird ending I must say, expected it to be continue for a while but well it was in a way a somewhat decent ending... in general it was pretty average!

Andragoras needs to die before this thing is over. I can't stand him! He's the very reason Parse fell into a trap and got conquered by Rustania (or however you spell it). Would it kill him to show a bit of humility or change his retarded attitude? Glad everyone defies his orders at the end.

Well, that must have been a disappointment for Arslan, but at least he still has his crew. This drama with his father will just make him stronger and bring along further in his development into a king. I wonder how Silvermask is going to play into all this. He seems like he's being played for a fool right now.

I'll be watching the remake since apparently it'll do a full adaptation. But this is still a shame, because the remake looks lame, and I really liked the art, style, and flavor they had going in this one. The remake teaser visuals look plain, boring and white washed

God, Andragoras has made his way in my personal top ten of most hated anime characters ! He should be grateful for everything Arslan did during his imprisonment . He doesn't have enough heart to allow Arslan to see his mother for at least a few moments. And Tahamine is heartless too, in both adaptations she has yet to show any semblance of worry towards Arslan. He could have died in his maiden battle and she still wouldn't care.

Don't talk to me about character development if Kaizuka Inaho or Slaine Troyard are in your favorites.

I think the OVA era ended, the Japanese economy went into recession.

Although discontinued I'm glad I watched this. Love the art style and the voice cast is legendary.

Whelp. Now I really want Arslan to get those 50K troops against all odds and make his father speechless. (Reminds me of Kingdom!) But NOPE. It ended.

Nevermind a climax, that all felt like a prologue to the whole story. I hope a proper adaptation of this will come some day, like LotGH...

95 is far from the end of the OVA era, there were still tons of OVAs that weren't just spin offs of TV shows being released up until the early 2000s. In the mid-2000s is where it truely starts to taper off and just become spinoffs and fanservice. I think that's mostly because in more relatively recent years, larger studios don't really have time for side and pet projects anymore as a lot of studios are over worked as it is and the smaller studios that used OVAs as a way to circumvent the mainstream anime industry are now just using the internet to do the same thing. So I think it has less to do with Japan's financial situations and more to do with the fact that technology and the situation within the industry has changed.
Though, on the other hand, there are quite a few lavish productions such as this that were suddenly canceled around this time, and I think that DID have to do with the economic fall out in Japan.

A persistent problem in this OVA sires is just jumping around without particularly good, if any, transitions. Etoille goes from a prisoner in a cell to be trusted enough to not run away apparently? Or join the group for some reason? It's not clear.

Andragoras is a real p.o.s., somebody shoulda just shot him with an arrow before he got to the castle lol
Of course, Hermes has to be unlikable since he has a legitimate claim.

Well, the artwork was pretty nice but I wasn't really a fan of the pacing and the way this ends. It does feel kinda like Legend of the Galactic Heroes, but not nearly as good.

Where the f*ck is the rest of this?
Who's brilliant idea was it to end this OVA here?
Sigh... I just hope the TV version has real ending...

ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?!?!

I watched the 2015 version first, was mad as fuck that they dropped it 1/3 into the second season (while they release 50+ seasons every year of anime that the plot is "random loser ends up in a world tons of girls like him for no reason")... took me a long time to pick this one because I'm still mad at the 2015 series and after the first episode here I saw the story was progressing very fast, at ep3 almost everything from the 2015 series was covered, so I was hopping I'd get to see an ending, but it ends basically on the same point!?!?! WHAT THE HELL!?!?

I think they should have change the story to end perfectly or acceptably in 6 episodes. Anyway, it was wishing that the King die but sadly he didn't. So, the cliffhanger sucks.

shame it does give the feeling of ending once we're endeared to the characters and story, without finishing the story.

But it was a enjoyable watch at least anyway.

Hopefully I can also binge through the newer one now before netflix removes it lol, which was at least motivation for me to go back and finish this haha.
