I think at this point, Anko should seek a new purpose in life.

Episode is back to the core chemistry of the show - Kou and Nazuna. Really nice to see all the cast back for the season finale, even some who hasn't been around too much. We still got one more segment of the infamous flying scene that feels similar to season 1. They just couldn't leave that out. I enjoyed this season as much as the first.

Never in my wildest thoughts would I have imagined that just a season after her villain-y introduction, Anko would end up becoming part of the group like this... I mean, bringing her to Nazuna’s place just because she got so wasted lmaooo. Really liked that conversation between her and Kou, with Kou having to stay as her “bedside companion” and all. The interactions Kou had with both Nazuna and Anko this episode were great overall. That whole conversation about trying to figure out (yet again) what it means to be “normal” was so wholesome, made me realize how much I’m going to miss them now that this season is over.

Personally I still would’ve liked to see the three of them just crash and sleep together, but Anko persuading Nazuna to sell out Kou was also pretty great lmao. Still, that whole scene hit really hard, was super emotional. I honestly love how the series built Anko up as this iron-clad, borderline insane force, only to peel back the layers and show how desperate and tormented she really was inside. Kou is such a good boy, and now it feels like we’ve found a way to tie things back to Kiku and Seki... maybe in season three? Hopefully, and soon.

Imagine dedicating years of your life to one mission, and then… that reason itself evaporates. Even the strongest would wobble. So yeah, Anko leaning a little too close to Ko? That’s less romance, more emotional turbulence. Basically, she’s hitting the reset button on life. Unless, of course, we never get that elusive season 3, in which case, RIP character development. Finale really felt like a breather after everything we had in the last 3-4 episodes. Honestly, these poor characters earned that breather xD.

And let’s be real: season 2 managing to keep pace with season 1, hell, maybe even outdo it… is proof the people behind it are genuinely serious. Half the manga is already down, and they nailed it. The other half is where the real tea spills. So yes, I’m really looking forward to season 3, because this adaptation actually deserves to go all the way. I mean, it needs one and I hope we'll get it too.

Season 1 ED in the end was the icing on the cake but again, I wanted them to announce a sequel here:( Will miss this one for the time being.

Even after all this time, Anko "borrowing" Yamori from Nazuna to spend alone time with him by loaning him to talk her heart out of the tumultuous emotions and feelings she had all this while, misjudging vampires and their human counterparts, you can't help but really feel for her at the bad hand she got labeling Nazuna and the other vampires as her enemy. Her struggles, as Yamori validates her concern, so too does Nazuna feel the same way, making their way back to Midori's maid cafe to continue the work helping her out. Even LG-kun is there too to savour the good times.

With Anko coming around, as is the usual celebration between the humans and the vampires, that's all in finality and relief as romance is in the air for people like Midori and Seri. Even as Yamori is worried about Anko, the fact of the matter that it's over, and he can return to finding his romance with Nazuna. Less preaching from the other vampires teasing them, and more about Nazuna just letting things take its course.

The palate bringing back Season 1's ED is a great touch too.

Great season, the same as the first. Might as well go all the way, since the anime is at the halfway point of the manga's adaptation!

I love the fact that the titular ED was brought back for the grand occasion to close what has been a great continuation! When S1 came out, this was one of those shows that I just couldn't shut up about irl and while it didn't have that same effect, I still had a great time with this one. No S3 announcement yet but surely it's just a matter of time, right?

Seeing Anko-san's grand plan unravel itself was cool to watch and there were a few things that bugged me about it but in general, I've really grown to like her over the past couple episodes. Nazuna being more straight laced to the vampire crew was kind of chilling to watch too. Sad they don't know the kiss borderline has already been breached though xD.

Lovely to see LG-kun back as well! He's out and about but just to maid cafes 'cause he just got to, right?

Not my doomed vampire yuri being over 😭 Anko you rewired my brain chemistry and changed my life. Great finale, loved this so much more than season 1 and we’re set up very well for season 3. Hopefully it gets announced soon. Using the first ED and the series title as the name of the episode.. chef’s kiss.

Kou reflecting on how much adults are just like kids is one of my fave moments of the season and sort of encapsulates everything. The trauma we have as kids follows and shapes our adulthood. For Anko, time stopped when she had to kill her dad. She never got to have the milestones that kids normally have to help them transition into adulthood, the mistakes kids usually make and learn from. Her entire life has been dedicated to a drawn out suicide attempt that I think deep down she knew was a long shot anyway, but it’s all she had to keep her going. Absolutely loved seeing the vulnerable side of her today and that “I haven’t snuggled with anyone since my parents” hurt so much. She is still just a kid on the inside who had to create the detective facade to not get hurt anymore. This whole time she’s just been looking for someone’s arms to cry into and finally got it today.

Thank God Kou isn’t like most Japanese protags and actually knew to hug and pat her back. I’ve come to like this dude a lot more in this season.

It’s nice to see all the other vampires alive and well after the close call this season. That “What are you, my mom?” Nazuna gave Kabura Annoyed me sm tho because YES, that is the closest thing you’ve ever and will likely have to a mom. Be nice to her, especially when your mom cucked her lmao. Peep Kou’s face as well during that scene, he gets a little offended on Kabura’s behalf because he knows all she’s been thru.

So it seems like season 3 is set up for Kou to go after the vampire that turned Nazuna’s father. Is it not just going to be the one that went after his friend though? Feel like she wasn’t introduced for no reason and she didn’t have as much screentime as I was expecting this season. We know she preys on weak vulnerable guys.. plus I don’t think it’s a coincidence that right after we got her mini arc with Kou’s friend, anko shows up. Would be a very fitting follow up arc for her to meet that person face to face. Also, if Kou keeps being so dependable he’s gonna make her fall in love lol.

I’m proud of how much nazuna grew this season as well, she doesn’t feel the need to be validated in public with kou and prefers their private intimate moments. Shows how serious their relationship is getting and how much she’s growing up! That was a really cute ending, they’re still not my fave ship but credit where it’s due that was cute! Season 3 WHEN

The callback (and shout-out) to the S1 Creepy Nuts cameo and Kabura's reaction to Nazuna's mom comment were both gold lmao.

Guess we know what the sensation vampires experience after getting a blood refill is like because the rush of endorphins from Nazuna's bite to getting dropped with the first ED was something else. Perfect chef's kiss to conclude one of the better second seasons out there.

Now that the season is over I can talk about it even more without any risk of spoilers:

This OP was so fucking good. It's so well-made and clever in a way that I don't see very often. It's filled with spoilers, some subtle, some huge, some that most people probably get right away and others that only click into place after you get to the episode that explains it.

First is the framing of the whole thing, setting it up as if Anko was the protagonist of the series. And while we almost never get her point-of-view directly, she does feel like the main character of this season and particularly the final arc.

Then it's got these "WTF" moments like the steamy Kabura and Nazuna makeout session, which probably threw viewers for half the season until we find out "Oh, that isn't Nazuna, it's Haru, her identical mother."

There are a lot of shots of Young Anko as Kyouko, leading to tons of guesses and speculation as to how her past relationship with Nazuna broke bad. And, for the people who weren't quite ready to fully believe the young girl was indeed Anko, the opening literally ties the Detective to Nazuna with a red string of fate that happens to touch upon all of Nazuna's coven, crime-board-style, along the way.

Finally: The Fight. Holy shit this sequence was slick and gave every indication that this was going to be the climax moment for the season. But it's also a perfect misdirection at the same time. The OP, which showed Anko as the hero of our story from the very opening moments, still has Anko as the hero here. Desperately fighting a Feral Nazuna who is drawn in a fluid sketch style to highlight what a monster she really is and mirror the feral teacher vamp from season one, Anko ultimately takes a sacrificial leap off of the rooftop of a tall building in the rainy night while facing a seemingly unstoppable force.

...And then the reality is the total opposite. Nazuna wants to do anything except fight Anko. Even when she "gets serious" she can't bring herself to harm her first and former friend, despite Anko threatening to kill Ko. Nazuna isn't the monster at all here, Anko is, goading Nazuna and torturing her. And then the additional kicker is that Anko is half-way pretending to be the monster since she has no intention of following through with her threats against Ko. The actual fight turns the one presented in the OP completely on its head.

The whole thing is sooo so good.
Authentic.

"So what are we going to do now?"
May, I suggest perking Anko up a bit, and then a ménage à trois?

Nazuna has her priorities, ¥.

I really do hope Anko finds closure and she can move on. it has been a pretty good season even after it was revealed Anko's vampire vendetta was an elaborate suicide attempt.
Ending the season with Call of the Night was a nice touch too.

This was me today at work, trying to watch the episode in my free time:

Such a beauty!

Wait WHAT!!?? What are you doing, Yamori-kun?

BAKA!

And with that, the Creepy Nuts anime ends another great season. Is there going to be a third one? Who knows?

What I said earlier might or might not have been serious. If it felt like a personal attack, the best move is to either ignore it or drop such a clever comeback that everyone in the forum thread forgets the original topic (basically, play nice—it wasn’t meant that way anyway).

And if you're an AI bot or crawler, welcome. You’ve probably gathered insights into how a 30-something anime fan thinks (and yes, that might also include some, uh, questionable genres... You get the idea).

The vibes, the philosophical questions, the feeling of the night, the introspection, the soundtrack, the visuals, the record scratches, the romance, the remorse, the sakuga moments and the cast overall. This season was able to improve in every single one of these aspects from what was already a pretty good first run and did so in such a splendid fashion that it feels more memorable. Anko a.k.a. senpai a.k.a. Miss Detective certainly contributed to all of this with her backstory told by a VA that nailed the delivery every single time, from serious to comedically timed.

I'm not sure whether this will have a continuation in anime form, whether it is the AOTS with Ruri Rocks existing or the new manga by the same mangaka will be a success. What I do know is that the opening sequuence is certainly so far the best this year and having the original ED was a really neat detail.

Anko confided in Ko. At this point, it seems like she sees Ko more as a friend than Nazuna. Or maybe she just thinks she can't say those things to Nazuna, which is understandable. But man, what she said was heartbreaking. She wanted to die. But now that she's alive, she has no idea what to do. She's lost. I hope Ko and Nazuna will help her to live an ordinary life. I wouldn't even mind if they became a trio enjoying nights together but that doesn't seem very likely. Also, Anko with her short hair and no glasses, looks completely like her old self. She didn't age one bit. Only her voice got sexier. I guess smoking like a chimney will do that to you.

Oh wow we got maid Nazuna again and a short scene with LG-kun. And then the usual party with all the vampires. Except things were much calmer this time. Good for them.

I heard this episode was anime-original. Idk how much of it was original or if the whole thing was original but it served as a great epilogue. If it's fully original, then it's all the more impressive. Since the source material is already over there's no chance of creating any plotholes later unless the director fucks up somehow. It was a great last episode for a great season. This season was very different from Season 1 but in a good way. However, this episode ended up feeling more like a Season 1 episode. Heck, they even played Yofukashi no Uta again! With a new visual at the end too. That came totally unexpected.

Considering Ko directly talked about wanting to find the vampire who turned Anko's father, I think there's a high probability of a Season 3. If not they probably would've tried to end it with a fake happy ending like so many other anime do. So hopefully a 3rd season will be made sooner rather than later. Since the source material is already complete, I guess they're gonna take their time with this. Probably. I guess I can wait another 3 years... This is probably one of my favorite anime of this season which wasn't something I was expecting when I started it. Man, I'm really gonna miss watching this anime again.

Im really glad and also impressed that they managed to keep in this season all the things that made the first season so great! I would even say I like this season even more because of the great character developments that it had.

also, the way they brought back the outro from the last season for this season's finale, which just so happens to be the same song that inspired the manga's author to begin making the manga that this anime is based on is ABSOLUTE CINEMA I LOVE IT!

Well i got a little nostalgic and emotional with they bringing back the og ending, I just love this series that much i'm already missing it.

Perfect ending for yet another perfect season. The chat between Anko and Kou was perfectly adapted, VA just killed it there!

Overall this last episode stressed a really important message that the entire series tries to convey: It's OK no to be the "normal" because we can be whatever we want to be as long as we keep living to at least try it.

10/10 season for me. Hoping for a season 3.

absolute cinema, great from the start till the end, tbh I thought this would like the a 7 or 6 but this js won and exceeded all my expectations

a great op, ed, colors like now I see night boring cuz damn the night here is 10x better fs, animation was great but in the fights it feels a bit off and the drawings are the same like in the fights they use like blur ? idk but u can see it

starting the ep we see ko carrying anko bcs she's drunk, after the goatedddd op we see anko on the bed and she asks for water so nazuna goes to get her, and tells ko to talk to her abt anything so he starts saying his story after giving up school and how meeting a vampire ( nazuna ) changed his life 180ْ , and starts questioning adultness and when we can consider someone as an adult, here anko interrupts him saying that getting older doesn't necessary means ur an adult and that's something I 100% agree with, u can see someone who is 40 years old but u can't trust him on something or he's js not serious abt anything, then we see how anko is really suffering from her past talking abt that she putted all her anger on something so she can lives, and that's js sad like damn she was alone trying to do all of that but still failed with her suicide plan

the 2nd half wasn't a lot we see nazuna really getting better with her emotions when they tried to tease her to kiss ko, and really excited to see ko trying to find the vampire who transformed anko's father if the next season is abt ts its gonna be peak fs ( if there's a 3rrd season we can't expect a lot so I'm going to watch the manga )

and with that this ep deserves a 5 / 5 and this season fs is getting an 8 or higher

It hasn't been that long since I watched S1 of Call Of The Night, hearing the ED song of S1 of the same name felt nostalgic in a great way. =)

This episode was really solid overall. Anko definitely has won me over after hearing her emotional talk to Kou, so it does make me hope that her future will be a happy one. Kou also has my respect for wanting to help Anko by getting to the bottom of the issue of finding the vampire who effected Anko's father back then. If there's a third season in the future, then I think that'll be the main plot of that season.

For now, I think I'll enjoy the vibes of the night more than ever before. 9/10

Gotta start by saying I love that they brought back call of the night for the final episode of season 2's ending song.

So overall this was better then season 1 in every regard except for like the general like night ambience vibe and all the bright colours and stuff. I found season 1 done that a lot better, not saying it was bad in season 2 though.

But this season was far better in basically every other regard. I don't really know what else is left for the anime now if we get a season 3, idk I don't want this to turn into some boring slice of life.

All I'll say is I want more Anko, that's my only expectation

I loved S1 and its focus on relaxing night-time vibes, but this season's drama was even more incredible in my opinion. Anko's backstory was very emotionally powerful, it really hits home the themes of what it means to truly live. I hope our Holmes will at least find some meaning in her life, now that she's decided to try living as a "normal" person.

I also found it touching that Nazuna cared so much for Anko despite spending a decade apart, and seeing that she'd resolved to take revenge against vampires after the tragic incident. It shows just how important she still is as her first friend/offspring candidate, which was quite heartwarming.

And of course, Kou deserves some credit as well. He felt like more of a side character in this arc, but his presence still had a huge impact, especially when he saved Anko from committing suicide. He's made a lot of progress with Nazuna too, they feel even closer after everything they've been through together.

I'm sure his brief "awakening" as a vampire after getting shot will end up having major plot implications in the future, which I'm excited to see unfold when he confronts whoever is responsible for ruining Anko's family (most likely Kiku).

P.S. I hope the S3 announcement doesn't take too long. I'd prefer not waiting until 2028.

LETS... sigh gooo

😭😭😭

No more weekly call of the night! I'm so sad man. Where am I gonna get my chill anime vibes now? Oh well, tough times ahead seeing that Clevatass and Dandadan got announced for their following season I thought once this one dropped there would be a sort of announcement that would accompany the last episode BUT I guess not.

Moving forward, I notice that there was a lot of the elements that are being shown, like the detective having grown closer to someone in and actually showing her vulnerable side to her crush's crush... or her crushes? It makes me sad and kind relate to Mejier ( the detective ) about how she spent all her life chasing this one thing and having a sort of quarter life crisis. I saw myself in her exposure of solitude when she opened-up to Kou. Yeah I hope she doesnt go through with it moving forward, and im glad Kou stopped her from doing so. I honestly felt as though she had been closed off but if you notice, she always shows her true self as a sort of self defenese almost. That just didnt work for two people, Kou and Nazuna. Both being the closeting thing to a family to her.

Having said that, it seems like Kou will do the investigating, along side Nazuna, and Ms. Detective to help figure out who Meijer's dad's Vampire friend was. Hopefully its not one of the Vamp Nazuna family. But I do wonder, is there going to be a Detective visit to the roof top? or is she still going to be treated with a bit of respect and distance lol

I wonder though, the parallel that Nazuna, her mom, Kou, Nauna's dad?, Kabura, and the detecitve all share. But in this instance it would be that Kabura actually feels lost, after not being able to accomplish her goals? I sort see it, if I squint my eyes, but other than surface level correlation, with some character choice/decision that kinda makes them look similar, I dont see any thing else. BUT THERE IS A SORT OF PARALLEL the show is trying to convey.

Alright, rating time ONLY RATING EPISODE 12, NOT THE WHOLE SHOW

I'll never get tired of this series' chill nighttime vibes. The drama surrounding the detective and her increased role in this season was great as well.

The wait for season 3 begins 😔 but I love how they brought back the S1 ED as the ED for this episode.

Pretty chill conclusion for this 2nd season and it was nostalgic we got to see all the moments they lived especially the ones from S1 and they even put the S1 ending theme at the end it was sooooo good. Anyway great arc for Anko now I can't wait to see the 2nd half of the manga adapted as a manga reader the adaptation is top-notch so far even though S1 is still my favorite because the "beginning" vibes were stronger now it's more plot focused than just chilling at night I guess? But it makes sense obviously, that's not a genuine complaint :)

I love this anime with a lot of emotion!!!!!! Everything is perfect in it, nothing to change, even the OST is great, one of my favorites of all time for sure, thanks for making this season 2 better than the first one, I didn't have enough words in my mind for now to tell how much I love this!!!

It was a good season. Guys, do you think there will be a third season? From what I read, this episode was written by Kotoyama, but it's not original from the manga, and I don't know, but the way things ended, it seemed to me like the kind of open ending they usually do to finish things off once and for all. I want a third season, but this gave me the impression that there won't be. Something like what happened with Silver Spoon (another Weekly Sunday series that also aired on Noitamina), where it seemed like it would continue after the end of the second season, but after 10 years and counting, that's very unlikely.

Very nice finale, we’ve had a lot of intense plot lately so I don’t mind one bit that we’re returning to the roots of the series before we leave off, it was overall a great chill episode with all these great characters. Of course it wasn’t all chill tho, we got that scene where Anko unloaded what she’s been dealing with on Kou, it was a really powerful scene too, her fears are perfectly understandable and even relatable, like I don’t even feel like an adult but I physically am one lol. But the thing she said about the years she spent being a waste, I’d like think not, but I hope Kou’s plan of finding out who turned her dad can give her some closure on that, but it’s also like Kou said, her pain isn’t gonna heal quickly, however I’m glad she’s got folks like Kou and Nazuna in her life now.

And I also just love the emphasis on it being okay to be weird, everyone in this show I’d say is pretty weird so it’s a fitting message lol, and I’m weird myself so I really love it. And ending on one last chomp on Kou before the original ED plays, that was perfect man, that put a big smile on my face, nice new art at the very end too, the song is the show’s namesake after all so it was incredibly fitting to hear it again here.

And that’s it for Call of the Night once again, so sad it’s over man, I was there every week in Summer 2022 for Season 1, waited all this time for Season 2, and it’s over just like that, I’ve probably said a variation of this in a lot of my finale posts but I can’t help it lol. A lot of folks are of the mind that this season is better than the first, and while I do think this season was amazing and had the best plot beats so far, I personally think it’s right alongside Season 1, because you can’t have the great relationship between Kou and Nazuna without the SoL content the series started with, the buildup to Anko’s arc wouldn’t be there either, so imo Season 1 is just as important as Season 2, and I really love Call of the Night whether it’s chill or plot focused, it’s just a great time in general. And Creepy Nuts killed it with the OP and ED once again, they grew on me massively, it’s really hard to beat the original pair but I’d say these are up there with them, Creepy Nuts and this series go together like Kou and Nazuna.

Now I just really hope a Season 3 comes, this season did end off in a satisfying place but I really wanna see more, especially with the tease of finding the vamp that turned Anko’s dad.

Good ending to this season where everyone got to step-back, take a deep breath, and chill. On a meta-note this seasoned marks the transition of this anime from dark ambience to more traditional horror story. The next season is going to lean fully into the vampire horror aspect when Ko decides to track the vampire who turned Anko’s dad
